Glacier hiking can be dangerous in that a single slip on the ice would very well ruin your whole trip.
The only thing you need to do is allow the day and prepare for the weather, and this is certainly will be wonderful adventure

Amazing experience

All of the sites were awesome but the glacier hike was such an amazing experience. It made my whole trip. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Kuba was a great guide! Super knowledgeable about the glacier and the south coast.

This was by far the best tour we went on during our week in Iceland. Our guide Ace was amazing and made this such an enjoyable experience. The drives in between stops can be quite long but he kept it interesting with facts about Iceland and some great music! The waterfalls and black sand beach were absolutely beautiful and the glacier hike was an amazing experience. Would highly recommend! The glacier hike is not very difficult so don’t let it put you off!

This was an amazing experience. I went with my Fiancée on my birthday and I would not not have wanted to be anywhere else. I would recommend this to anyone. We will be back to experience it in another season.

All of the places were memorable and cool. What was the harness and ice pick for? Seems like wasted equipment, and slightly expensive. Still overall very good

Absolutely amazing trip! Before the glacier hike, we stopped at a few beautiful waterfalls and the black sand beach. Then the glacier hike itself was great! My guide, Hong, was friendly and helpful and I never felt unsafe. It was definitely a bucket list item!

Hiking the glacier was an amazing experiences, especially with the sun illuminating the blue ice. The black sand beach was awe inspiring and we were so fortunate to have sunshine throughout the whole day. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was wonderful not to have to plan anything.

I really enjoyed this excursion. The waterfalls are beautiful and so is the glacier. I do believe you need to have some stamina or endurance, it was a long walk to the glacier and the steps formed in the ice are high (I am 5ft tall, so take that into consideration)

The scenery was lovely and the glacier walk was brilliant, including the staff that took the tour separately. However the troll ‘tour guide’ was useless, he didn’t say one word the whole time. He didn’t tell us about anything at all he just seemed angry and that he didn’t want to be there I’ve never had a worse tour guide. More disappointingly, when arriving at black beach he didn’t explain just how dangerous it was to go near to the shore line (they have freak waves that come up unexpectedly much further from all the others and can drag you in). The reason we paid for tours instead of driving is to get more information about the areas we were visiting as this is a once in a lifetime trip. If troll would like to contact me regarding this I would be more than happy to discuss as I think the driver really does need talking to.

This was amazing. The waterfalls and the landscape were both incredible, but the highlight was the glacier walk, such a unique experience. The weather was perfect, the guide said it was the first time in months since he had a perfect weather like that. Troll expeditions did a perfect job with this one, I highly recommend it!!!!

This was a great tour, a long day but well worth it. We definitely got lucky with the weather this day as it was bright blue skies and sunshine (we went in feb 2023). I believe our driver and tour Guide was Alex (apologies if that is incorrect, it was a Romanian gentleman and he was great!!) and even he said he's never had weather like this on the tour before! We went to a waterfall first and then onto the black sand beach where we could stop for some lunch. We were able to go onto the black sand beach as normally this beach can be very dangerous and there are warning lights telling you not to go onto it if that is the case. Then it was onto the glacier hike. Going in winter there was obviously a lot of snow and ice, so slippy in some parts when getting to the glacier but this was great. Again, having the right weather for it made it even nicer. And then finally we went to another waterfall. This is one you can walk behind, but unfortunately the steps were far too slippy and dangerous to be able to get there (unless you had crampons). One thing I will say is it is a long day and there is a lot of driving as you're trying to see so much in one day, so if you've got small children then take that into consideration. You have to appreciate that it is trying to fit a lot into one day and so if you want to plan your time at your locations then don't come on a tour like this, but for us it was ideal, especially with it being winter and not wanting to risk driving on the roads with Icelandic weather! The only small downside is I wish we had more time at the first waterfall as there is a viewing platform at the top of it which can only be gotten to by climbing quite a lot of steps and we just weren't given enough time to do be able to do it and come back down.

Wonderful trip, would recommend although definitely rushed and would have been nicer to have long at the first three stops. Ice hike was brilliant and the guides, Kevin and Suzie were amazing, can’t praise them enough. Patient, attentive and very knowledgeable ensuring everyone in the group was kept safe. The trip is good value for money.

I loved this experience. Everything, from start to finish, was excellent. The glacier walk was spectacular. I honestly can’t recommend it enough. We self drove everywhere else in Iceland but this trip meant we could save our legs for the stops. The info from the tour guide gave us lots of insight that you don’t get in your own car.

Choose this tour over the Golden Circle (limited on time so couldn't do both) and so glad I did... the stops at the waterfalls and beach were stunning but the highlight was definitely the glacier hike. We were lucky with the weather and the scenery was even more breathtaking as a result. Was just an amazing experience to be amongst this stunning landscape. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and educated us on the glacier. Equipment and safety briefing all good and crampons made walking on the ice very easy. Previous stops for toilet break, water falls, beach where there is a cafe for lunch (or can bring your own) all well timed. All in all, a recommended day out.

Our glacer hike got cancelled due to weather. Having seen how casual Icelanders can be about extreme weather though, I'm sure this was a good call. Our tour guide Halldor was awesome and found us some fun alternative stops on the way back, so we still made the most of our day. Felt like we were in good hands and would try again if we come back!
