Great Visit to the South Coast

The south coast of Iceland is a beautiful region filled with some great sites to visit. Our driver/guide, Adonis, did an excellent job of arranging our visits to take the best advantage of the weather, which in Iceland can be mercurial at the best of times. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and provided us detailed explanations on various aspects of Icelandic history and culture. He also put together a decent playlist of Icelandic music to listen to throughout the day. The only drawback - and I'm not deducting any stars for this - is the seat pitch is way too narrow on these buses, which seem to be built for 12 year old girls. I'm 6-foot/1.83 meters - tall, but not that tall - and I had to sit ramrod straight or at an angle to avoid jamming my knees into the seatback in front of me. They really need to reconfigure these buses to fit real life adult humans. Other than that, I had a very good time.

A day full of fun with our tour guide, Adonis! Highly recommended.

This tour covers some fantastic highlights of Iceland. You see a glacier, waterfalls, black sand beach. Definitely recommend and as a plus, it is a mini bus (20ish people) so it is more personable than the giant tour buses. Our tour guide Chris was very knowledgeable and gave us local only type of insight for the next portion of our trip out west.

Dangerous unreliable and a waste of money

Awful. Arrived 2 hours late, company said there was a technical problem with the bus. This turned out to be that there was no driver. When bus arrived, driver was ill, kept coughing and spluttering....covid precautions? Driver was then reckless, speeding, veering around on the road, answering phone calls and struggling to get the microphone on. He did not know where we were going and had to be guided by the travelers as to where to go. He had nothing to say, very little information, we had to look on Google to get info on what we were looking at. On more than one occasion a fellow traveler had to hold the wheel whilst the driver sorted himself out...at speed. Same traveler took charge ensuring everyone was okay etc. Basically he was the tour guide. The tour had been cancelled twice due to bad weather despite the other operators still going. Bus had at least one faulty air unit that would not close. The microphone did not work most of the time until aforementioned fellow traveler showed the driver that he had not switched it on. It then worked intermittentantly and driver had the microphone so close to his mouth that we could not figure out what was being said. We were then forced to listen to the driver singing his songs...excruciating. The bus slid out a few times and the driving was reckless. We were actually unsure of the state of mind of the driver. There were several passangers who needed to be back by a specific time, which meant that not everything could be seen...again as a result of the tour starting so late. This was not a tour, simply a transfer between places that had to be researched on google. And a dangerous transfer at that.

The locations were absolutely brillant and we got to see lots of places along the way. The Black Sand Beach and Skogafoss waterfall were incredible! There were plenty of stops but some were a little short on time and we felt a little rushed, particularly at the glacier. Our only issue was with being able to hear the driver/guide as his microphone was not very loud.

I was a bit put off in the morning as the weather was pretty bad and I didn’t think it was going to be a great day but I was very wrong. The tour guide Chris was fantastic. He had lots of stories and was really knowledgeable. Despite the rain every stop was just wonderful and we got a set amount of time in each place. He recommended lunch spots for us and it all went so smoothly. Going behind the waterfall and seeing the glacier were just beautiful and such amazing experiences. At the end Chris came with us for the last spot and helped us in and took photos (which is nice as a solo traveller). A really fantastic day.

Our guide, Chris was incredibly knowledgeable & had a great sense of humor. It was unfortunate that we didn’t have the best weather, but we still got to see everything. Check out the brewpub for lunch on this tour. They had the best burgers & great selection of beer. Definitely worth checking it out.

The day started out hectic with my partner and I missing our pick up time due to a mix up on my part. Someone from the company called to check on us because the driver did not see us at our designated stop. The driver could not wait for us at our designated stop, so we were able to take a taxi to another location and board the bus there. David, the driver/tour guide was wonderful. He was a very pleasant host with a lot of knowledge about Iceland's history, both sociological and geological. It was a long drive in and a long drive out, but his storytelling made it bearable! The South Coast offered views of stunning natural wonders, such waterfalls, endless open meadows, snowcapped volcanic mountains, cliff sides, a glacier, and one very angry black sand beach. We did get pretty wet from the falls, and pushed around by very strong winds on the beach, which was kind of fun. The downside was the crowds of people at each site, so patience is a must-have. We were also only at each site for a limited time because we had to keep on schedule. We spent 30 min to one hour at each site with a couple quick stops for photo ops. If you want to go at your own pace, I do not recommend you book a group tour. This is a very good tour if you want to see multiple popular sites in one day and learn a bit about about the land and culture.

Seriously, if you're short on time and can only do one tour, this is the one you should do. Mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, glaciers and the black sand beach... All in one day. This tour was Amazing!! It was a small group tour which had about 17 people in it. It was perfect. If you're able to ask for your specific tour guide, ask for Baldwin who is great!!

Our driver , Herman, should get a tour guide of the year award! He not only brought us to the places of interest, he was very watchful of our safety and well being! His knowledge of history and culture is extensive which he share many stories of lore with us. As one person on the tour said, “ he brought us all together as a community”. Best tour on the island!
