What To Expect
Begin your Icelandic adventure with pickup from your central Reykjavik hotel by private vehicle and set out along Iceland’s rugged south coast. Enjoy the endless panorama of snow-capped mountains, glacial rivers and jagged sea cliffs as you wind along the coast and pass the vast Eyjafjallajökull glacier.
Jump out at the first of many photo stops, looking up at the majestic Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Take the opportunity to walk behind the falls or climb to the top for an unbeatable view over the glacier, then hop back in the car. Stop at another dramatic waterfall – the mighty Skógarfoss, en-route to the Folk Museum at Skógar.
After paying your entrance fee (not included), spend time exploring the fascinating open-air museum, which offers a unique insight into Iceland’s folk culture and heritage. Be sure to snap some photos of the traditional turf-roofed buildings before continuing along the coast.
After a stop at Reynisfjara beach, to stroll the black volcanic sands and admire the unusual Dyrhólaey rock formations, it’s time for the adrenaline-fueled part of the tour. First, swap your private vehicle for a super jeep and enjoy views over the Mýrdalsjökull glacier as you climb to the mountaintop starting point.
Then, zip up your snowsuit (provided) and learn how to operate your easy-to-drive snowmobile before heading out for a thrilling 1-hour tour. Follow your guide through the remote wilderness and enjoy spectacular views over the glacier and Katla, Iceland’s largest volcano.
After returning by jeep to your vehicle, set out on the journey back to Reykjavik, where your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
