WASTE OF TIME and MONEY
Diego_T, Jan 2023
PLEASE DONT TAKE ANY NOTHERN LIGHTS TOUR MANAGED BY REYKJAVIK EXCURSIONS, its a waste time. Northern lights was cancelled multiple times due to “weather conditions”. However, we knon on same dates, other tour agencies operates but driving around 50-70km away. Some of the cancellations were not notified via email, only when areiving to meetinng point.
When we finally managed to go, we realized this tour only drives 15 km away from Reykjavik to a closed coffee shop and stays there for 4 hours despite of nothern lights were not in this area accoridng to local forecast.
Golden circle was okay, even very short time in each place and not enough to see around completely. Also, lunch break was cancelled due to suspenssion break of the bus. BETTER TO SEE OTHER OPTIONS.

Golden Circle/Northern Lights

Be sure to get to your bus on time. If you’re traveling with a group of people or another person, let the driver know if you want to sit next to them. We got to the bus on time, but it was already packed. A lot of people who were doing the excursion alone took up entire rows to themselves. We didn’t get to enjoy the bus ride together in the same row which was unfortunate because we didn’t really get to chat about our experience at each location. The locations on the other hand were amazing. The Golden Circle tour is a perfect way to see Iceland in little time.
The Northern Lights tour was discouraging the first night. What we didn’t realize is the NL do not come out every night. This is out of the guide’s control and it all comes down to all of the elements working together to make it happen. Luckily, this tour offers complimentary rebooking if you don’t see the lights. The second night we went out was such a treat!!! Do not trusts the Aurora Borealis forecasting apps/site. We were forecasted a 2/10 to see the lights but they definitely were out dancing for quite some time our second night! BIGGEST TIP: DON’T BE THE PERSON OUT THERE USING A FLASHLIGHT OR HAVE YOUR BRIGHTNESS TURNED ALL THE WAY UP ON YOUR PHONE!! If you’re traveling in the winter months, be sure to dress extremely warm.
