Not as advertised

First of all this is not a half day tour - it is a full 8 hours. The guide was horrible, barely spoke English and gave no information about anything we were seeing. Worst tour ever.

Waited for an hour in the heat, they didnt pick us up, lousy communication!

1. The tour is advertised to start at 8am, but after communicating with the office through Whats app, we were notified we would not be picked up until 9.30am. 2. We asked them for a specific meeting point at the cruise ship terminal and got no response. 3. we arrived early at the main terminal entrance/exit called the office who told us that the bus was 5 mins away and to stay where we were. 40 minutes later we were still waiting. my husband walked up and down the terminal looking for the tour bus or a sign but no one called out for us, and we did not see anything. having lost 2 hours of our port time, we booked a taxi tour at an extra cost of $200. to see the sights. 4. We do not have wi-fi when we leave the ship, so when we returned, we had a message from the guide at 9.39am saying they couldn't wait any longer and blamed us for not meeting them. 5. We do not know how much more we could have done to meet them when they do not respond or provide accurate meeting instructions. we should not have to pay for a tour we did not receive.

A good way to do rio if time is limited.

Great tip for a really good price. Jose could not have been a better, more competent guide. The pick up was moved to a more convenient location. It was bi-lingual which can be a pain but he delivered both equally well.

Visit the sites, but not on this tour

The tour was slow and disorganized. The guide says 5 hours, but we had to book our own Uber home at the 7:30 hr mark because the driver didn’t coordinate with they bus and we were waiting indefinitely. Our guide, Antonio, gave conflicting instructions multiple times, and actually left three travelers in our group at the Christ statue for 30 minutes while the rest of us were waiting. This then caused two other travelers to almost miss their cruise ship before it departed. Antonio also failed to purchase any tickets ahead of time, so we were stuck waiting while other groups strolled ahead of us into the sites. Antonio also failed to add any explanation on Brazil or the two sites, other than a reference to “Fast Five.” We would have been so much better off doing the tour on our own.

Antonio was a kind, helpful tour guide. It was an efficient tour that moved along well, even with Carnaval traffic. Christ the Redeemer is a must for your Rio visit, and Sugarloaf presents spectacular city views.

Overpriced taxi service

Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer are must do activities in Rio. But don’t bother with this tour. The guide - he told us the bare minimum of information on the way to both locations and gave minimal time for exploring as we were so late being picked up and arriving at the locations. His was nice enough but his English was incredibly hard to follow and we ended up picking up more from our combined broken Spanish. The organisers - We came to Rio during carnival and had planned to do the trip a day we weren’t going out. But the agency despite confirming they were coming @9:05, then told us they were delayed only after we chased, then at 10 finally confirmed they weren’t coming. We managed to do the tour the next day but again they were 25mins late (but it was carnival).

Nice tour. Been told pick up at 8:30 however bus arrived 7:57. Nice bus air conditioned very good guide no waiting or delays. Would recommend nice short tour to the point.

Sugarloaf was amazing, and our guide was very nice, but after sugarloaf we preceded to Christ the Redeemer and things went south. Unexpected traffic got us to Christ the Redeemer about an hour past schedule and then we were not allowed in because our tour guide had not purchased tickets ahead of time. Their credit card machines were down, thus we could not be admitted in. If we had tickets, they would have let us in. The guide was apologetic, but could not change the course of events. What the tour company COULD have done was refunded us half of the tour (since we only saw half of what we paid for); however, they only refunded us 20% of what we paid for. I would have given them a better review had they set things right, but they did not.

Very poor experience

The lines we had to wait in - is the abiding memory! The original document which encouraged us to take this trip suggested that there wouldn’t be any queues. We had to wait on the bus before the tour as the guide told us he was expected to wait for a couple. The guides’ command of English was very poor, and minimal explanations were given.

Christ the redeemer is a must for anyone visiting brazil.the trip is fantastic. The negative part is you need to have patience.the ticketing and organization process at the last part at the mountain where you take the minibus to the stature is really frustrating. Dont understand why with all the modern technology we have.its a shame.but all said you have to do the trip! The sugar loaf is beautiful too. Well organized amd smooth. I would recommed this tour operator

Good tour!

Tour was great for to most part. Very speedy and the tour guide was able to skip the line for us. It could be a little more organized as far as keeping the group together such as using a sign on a stick. We were constantly looking for the guide to make sure we were going the right way. There was a little miscommunication which almost left us on sugar loaf. Maybe using email to send rendezvous times would be helpful.

Uncomfortable ride

Received email the night before to confirm pick up time which was an hour later than the ticket stated.The bus arrived 25 minutes early, luckily we were in the hotel reception. Air on on bus was broken for the first half of the journey and vehicle was old and uncomfortable. Could not hear commentary from guide , we all complained to her but is sure microphone was broken too. Was supposed to be half day but we were travelling from just after 8.30 till 3. Pleased to have seen the sights but it was not a pleasant experience

The time shown on your ticket is an estimated time, each hotel has a specific pick-up time. Unfortunately, on this day, we had a problem with transport and it was resolved, this is an unforeseen event for which we apologize. Our oldest van is from 2020 so they are not old and uncomfortable. We will take into account your comment about the microphone volume and improve. The tour lasted later, so you could spend more time at each point and catch up on any lost time. We are very sorry that it was not as expected, we hope to be able to serve you in another opportunity and erase any negative image.

An organisational mash up

Started an hour late, and ended even later as a result of the agency apparently merging different tours requiring excessive diversions to pick up / drop clients. Guide did well to keep large group together, but ignored most of us in order to loudly display his French language skills.

On this day, there was an event on the Sugar Loaf, so the delay in your tour, unfortunately we cannot control this. On the day of your tour there were only two French passengers and they were the ones who left the tour early, so I believe they were not ignored during the tour. We are very sorry that it was not as expected, we hope to be able to serve you in another opportunity and erase any negative image and on a next visit, we recommend the private tour, which will certainly be more consistent with your needs.

WHAT AN AMAZING DAY!!! Luisa is a talented and energetic tour guide who is also TRILINGUAL - giving the full day's tour in English, Spanish, and Portuguese! The day was conveniently scheduled with pick up near our air bnb (the tour said it started 8am but we were picked up at 920 which was even better haha!), and ended at about 1:30-2pm. There are a few opportunities to grab a snack while at Tijuca as well. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone short on time wanting to visit both of these must-see sites while in Rio!
