What To Expect

Your Amalfi Coast tour starts as you depart Rome by minivan for the drive south into the Campania region of southern Italy. This is a small-group tour with a maximum of eight people per minivan, which ensures a personalized experience.

During the journey, your driver-guide tells you about what to expect from the day. 

First, head to Pompeii for a guided tour of the World Heritage-listed ruins that were covered in volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79. As you explore with your guide, learn about the discovery of the ruins in the 18th century and hear stories about life in the village during the days of ancient Rome.

Your next destination is an authentic restaurant set on the hills overlooking the Bay of Naples and Sorrento for a delicious Italian lunch.

In the afternoon, spend some time exploring Positano, where you can enjoy a walk around the delightful village with its white and pastel-colored houses littering the hillside. You can visit the beautiful beaches, where you can relax or have a swim, stroll around the ancient fishing port and see the splendid majolica dome of the church of Santa Maria Assunta. 

Your day trip then ends with the drive back to Rome.

  • In Pompeii enjoy a 2-hour guided tour with our local guide - for this portion of the tour there might be up to 23 people per guide

Be advised that proper walking shoes and water are a MUST in the summer months as there is minimal shade along the tour.
My recommendations are to bring comfy shoes, lots of water, and sunscreen.
There is lots of driving but no getting around that.

The Guide at Pompeii was...

The Guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and professional. The chauffeur that took care of our family was attentive to our needs and professional and patient, particularly during the return trip when there were long traffic delays unfortunately caused by road conditions.

We had two guides, the first is our driver-guide Robert who drove us everywhere: Sorento-Positano-Pompeii, then back to Rome. I am very appreciative of him, it’s just impossible to safely drive the roads in Sorento & Positano — those roads are amongst the top ten hardest to drive in the world, they are incredibly winding, with thousands of feet drops on one side! Roberto gave me peace of mind despite me having vertigo. The second guide met us in Pompeii, his name is Chiro. Chiro is a fourth generation guide, his great grandfather had been a guide through the city of Pompeii, and he knows very well the layout of the city. It is very easy to get lost in the city of Pompeii, quite a large one, so an expert guide is needed for the place.
There are no words. Magnificent.

I cannot express enough how well this tour went. It was a semi private tour which meant about 8 people. It was smooth, comfortable and very pleasurable experience. From the car ride to the light lunch which was delicious. The scenery is unmatched and the tour was worth EVERY penny.

Positano! Beautiful, picturesque place! Wonderful place for lunch, breathtaking! Awesome people in the group! Pompei was a wonder! It was a 2000 years of history frozen in time. Absolutely fascinating and the guide Ciro, was full of knowledge of the area, its inhabitants and a great story teller! Last but not the least….Roberto our driver was great, kind, friendly and very professional! A well seasoned and an expert driver…..he was amazing driving those very narrow hills of Positano and the surrounding areas. I highly recommend this tour!

7 hours in a van. 1 hour in Pompeii, 1 hour for lunch, 1 hour in Amalfi. I wouldn’t recommend this trip.

Dear Client, Thank you for your feedback, but this does not reflect our timing as we spend 2 hrs in pompeii, 2 hrs in positano and 1,5 hrs at least at lunch location ( a small family owned restaurant overlooking the Sorrento bay). Plus we make photo stops at scenic view points along the coast. If you'd like to share with us also the date you took the tour, then we can check. The drive from/ to Rome is not short and that's why we depart at 7am and retund around at 8pm. Kindest Regards Monica

Best day ever!!! The views were breathtaking!!! Positano should be on everyone’s bucket list. Pompeii was amazing!!! More than I ever expected!!! The best part of the day was our meal at the beautiful family owned restaurant overlooking the Bay of Sorrento. The small group was definitely worth the price. Our guide and driver Max was amazing. Very informative and personable, with a good sense of humour. Definitely recommended.

What a great way, if you only have a day, to enjoy some other parts of Italy. I live having everything setup and planned, so we could readily enjoy the experiences. Great stops and a fabulous 4th generation guide at Pompeii!

We enjoyed every minute of this day-long trip. Our guide was informative but not too talky. We had just enough time in Positano to get a feel for the place. Our lunch spot was such a gem. And our tour of Pompeii was excellent.

We had a wonderful day with our driver John Carlos. He was very informative on the drive and had a great sense of humour. We stopped for coffee and then headed to the Amalfi coast. John Carlos stopped at beautiful viewpoints and took patiently pictures for us all. The scenery was magnificent! We then went to the small coastal town of Positano to do some shopping. We went for a lovely lunch at a quaint little outdoor restaurant, again, with amazing views of the coast. We went to Pompeii and were greeted by a passionate and enthusiastic host, Ciro Manfred. The history of Pompeii is fascinating and we learned so much. A long day but definitely worth it. It was a longer day for both John Carlos and Ciro and when I discovered I had dropped my phone in the van, they worked to quickly have it back to me within the hour. They went above and beyond and were awesome hosts. I would highly recommend this tour!

Unsafe driver

Great excursion but a very unsafe driver. He was driving one-handed at the windy roads of Amalfi Coast while his right hand holds the headset mic. It's when he points at a landmark when you get really nervous, because he's literally hands-free. I know that just take a second, but you can't risk it when you're liable for the lives of several passengers. And on the way back, this driver was dozing off at the freeway and we literally swerved a few times, in which one of the passengers intervene and politely asked for a break. Just a horrendous disregard to safety

Dear Client, I'm very surprised by this feedback about one of our drivers being driving in an unsafe way. We've checked on our records and it seens like you have been traveling back in March with us when most of the tours were operated by Max, a professional driver that has been operating this tour for over 10 years. All our driver- guides are professional and would never put clients and their life at risk. They use a mike to talk to clients so to have their hands on the steering. Your safety is very important to us and therefore if you'd like to write to us so to give us some extra details and especially the precise date you've travelled, then it would be helpful for us to be able and investigate further, maybe asking to some other clients that were on the tour. Hello, I'd like to share my experience with you about this tour yesterday. Let me begin by saying this is one of the best experiences that I have ever had! Our driver John Carlo helped to make the day and the whole experience wonderful. He actually started the tour in Rome, by giving some history as we drove through. He kept us engaged in conversation during the whole drive, and his kind, funny, pleasant personality was definitely an addition to the whole day. This is a beautiful day trip and I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone. All the best

Had a wonderful time, both of our tour guides were great! The adventure started with having a blow out first thing. Thank goodness between the driver. My husband and 2 other gentlemen with us handled the situation with ease. The sights were breathe taking and lunch was amazing.

The Amalfi coast was amazingly beautiful , along with the delicious dinner along the picturesque coast before heading to the city of Pompei. Definitely recommend this tour. Our driver was very informative and knowledgeable of the country, history and culture. Everything about the trip was perfect. Although it was a long day, well worth the ride.

This was perfect if you wanted a taste of the Amalfi Coast. We had just enough time to see the water, shop a little and explore Pompeii. Both of the tour guides were amazing and we had a great time!

Not sure if this trip is worth the price. It feels like you spend most of your time in the car and barely get to spend time at any of the places. We got 1 hour in Positano, 1 hour for lunch, and 1.5 hours for a guided tour of Pompeii plus a few stops for photo ops along the way. Overall I’m glad I got to see Positano and Pompeii when I had such a short time frame for traveling. Both are truly spectacular and worth seeing. I still think the trip is overpriced but I’m glad I got to see these two wonderful places.

Dear Client, I understand your point, on the other side this tour covers a large area and many miles and it is an opportunity to see this beautiful part of Italy for all those that do not have the time to enjoy staying a few days down in the Amalfi coast. We've been operating this tour for about 15 years and fine tuned stops and locations to include in this experience. Considering that we include pick up and drop off at Hotel, guided tour and skip the line tickets at Pompeii and lunch as well in a beautiful spot from where to enjoy fine views of the coastline , I believe it is rightly priced, also considering we limit the group size to 8 people per vehicle.
