I enjoyed the narrator and found the tour to be very informative. It was easy to navigate. My boyfriend and I enjoyed learning about each stop and the tour itself. We had a great time on the tour.

I missed the timing to go on a tour of Salem, but found this audio tour as an alternative. It was great. It gave just enough historical information to appreciate the "ghost" stories about landmarks around Salem. I felt as though the creator of this tour really cared about producing something accessible and interesting. This was my first experience using the smartphone walking tour, but I enjoyed this one so much, I will be using this when I travel!

Great experience, allowed us to capture all of the information in a fun way without the hassle of a large group of people and at our own pace. The only issue we found was that the location didn’t always keep up (might just be my phone) so I had to go back/forward a chapter to get the app to prompt the next stop. Would definitely recommend!

I am new to the app so this may have been user error but we were not able to start the tour. We would select goto tour and it was unresponsive.

Hi, the tour is location aware and plays as when you are in Salem :). The tour starts outside the Ropes Mansion, and from there the app (GPS/technology) guides you through the streets of Salem telling its haunted story. After you take the on location tour, a virtual tour will unlock you can take anytime. But the first time is designed to play on location, making it spooky and fun. Also, please do make sure to download the app and tour early, sometimes the signal in Salem is not stable. Thank you!

The transition music was too loud and had high pitched steam blows which were annoying and difficult to listen to. We found the voice actor annoying and would have preferred a normal sounding voice. We ended up stopping the tour half way through because it just wasn't that great.

Sorry to hear that! Our British voice actor, who plays a role of the spooky ghost of Salem's past, is loved by 10's of thousands, sorry you did not like him. Our tours are infused with music and we use character voices to fit the theme. We do understand that ghost tours are not for everyone, but those that love Ghost tours, say they love this one! You might like our Freedom Trail tour more, that has a less spooky voice, and the music theme is more classical and revolutionary :). Glad to hear the technology in our app worked great! We now have tours in 40 cities in the USA, please do look for us as you travel around the USA!

Definitely wear headphones to block out outside noise. I loved the narrator and all the creepy sounds. The tour was well thought out and informative but also kept my interest.

Hi! All you need to do is get the WalknTours app, register, then use the code in the booking ticket (starts with 's') and unlock the tour. Then press start tour. Takes a minute :) Sorry that was too many steps. The advantage is you can go anytime, and at your own pace, and the narrator is top notch with professionally composed music to set the atmosphere. Please do look for our tours in other cities! You only have to register once, then to purchase all you have to do is click on button (purchase) and take the tour (maybe 20 seconds?). Thanks!

The tour code is in your ticket under step 3 :). the code is not the Viator number, we are a 3rd party app, WalknTours. The code starts with an 's'. Sorry you did not see it in the ticket under 'How to take the Tour". The Viator ticket is tricky, you have to click the 'open ticket' button, there you'll see the "How to take the tour" instructions and this is under step 3. Stop 1: Get the WalknTours app. Step 2: Register. Step 3: unlock it with the code in your ticket under step 3 :).

For $5, you don’t have much to lose. That being said, I would not recommend this on a crowded day (ie any weekend in October). It’s just too packed to immerse yourself in the tour or follow the directions.

If you go on Saturday in October try to go early or late, it’s less crowded. And with good earbuds/headphones you can go anytime. The beautify of this tour is you can go anytime, and at your own pace, and it never sells out :).
