What To Expect

Make your own way to the San Antonio Zoo to explore the diverse exhibits that feature animals from around the world.

Wander through several sections of the zoo including Africa Live!, the Savanna, Amphibia, Big Cat Valley, and Flamingo Mingle to see everything from zebra and giraffes to lions and flamingoes.

Find out more about some of the zoo's most popular animals during daily presentations (check the schedule for timing).

At the Zootennial Carousel, kids can catch a ride on native Texas animals such as a whooping crane, white-tailed deer, Texas horned lizard, and the jackalope, along with other creatures. The zoo train offers rides around the premises (additional expense), and refreshments are available for purchase at the cafe.

For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.

Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.
This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

A:Yes - The Zoo Parking Garage is located in between the zoo and Will Smith Zoo School. Parking at the garage is free during zoo business hours.

A:Outside food or drink is not allowed into the zoo. Exceptions are bottled water, baby food, and formula. Ice chests, coolers, and ice bags are not allowed on zoo grounds.

It was good had to leave early because it rained not too many animals were out when we went good good good

It was a last minute trip, and getting to go to the zoo so readily was a treat.

I wasn’t able to get electric wheelchair so we left earlier than we wanted to they need to have more!

It is a smaller zoo which we knew about ahead of time. Lot of the concessions were not open. It will take you two hours to see the animals.

We saw the whole zoo in 2 hours. Most of the animals were resting. They didn’t have as many animals as I expected. No elephants, they only had 3 kinds of monkey/apes.

Leaving! That zoo did not have any of the animals I was looking forward on seeing! Had no bears, lions elephants and no chimpanzees or orangutans. The giraffes you had to pay extra to get up and close. I was not impressed with my experience at all. Waste of my money!!! Jana Weeks

It was a lovely Zoo. The new Cat Walk for the Jaguars was our favorite part. We loved seeing the elephant and the hippos! The kids got their face painted and ate snacks! All around a great experience!

We went July 2. Don't recommend going in the summertime, the animals weren't really active and a lot either were not there or they had them inside because of the heat.
