What To Expect

Make your way to the pier at 1066 N. Harbor Drive at least 15 minutes before your cruise's departure time; multiple departure times are available to fit your schedule. Step aboard the ship and make yourself comfortable for the ride, which spans 2 hours and passes many local points of interest.

Listen to insightful commentary from your guide as you pass landmarks such as the Cabrillo National Monument, the U.S. Naval Fleet and Submarine Base, Shelter Island, Harbor Island, and Point Loma. You'll likely see some California sea lions along the way. Step up to the onboard snack bar to purchase some hot or cold items while you cruise. Return to the pier after the cruise.

My family enjoyed the beautiful views and all of the fun facts while we sailed. The staff was very friendly and space was amazing. I personally recommend getting a good spot at the back of the ship!!!

Captain Jose, First Officer Dave, and crew members helped us make this cruise magical and memorable by assisting my boyfriend in pulling off a unique surprise engagement! We Highly recommend this crew and tipping the captain well. ;) Beautiful views and great narration.

This is the worst Viator Tour I've ever purchased, and we have taken many throughout the world! We took the tour for my sister-in-law visiting CA from Japan, and it was a huge disappointment. First, the boat appears old, outdated, and rusty. Second, there were too many on board- it was crowded. Third, the first floor seats are all inside and it was hot! Not all the windows opened!!! Fourth, the bars on the first and second decks were not open, and the only people getting served seemed to be on the upper deck. When I went up to the third deck, and went to the inside bar area, I was asked to leave!!! They said they were too backed up to take my order. We were very thirsty and no way to get drinks- and it is advertised that you can purchase drinks and snacks on the tour! Fifth, they took us north for an hour, then returned to the dock and let people off that had purchased a one hour cruise, then allowed others to get on for another hour cruise South. There was no mention of this when I purchased the tickets. Sixth, the cocktails were not good. The only good thing was the history provided during the cruise IF u could hear it!! It was overcrowded and people were talking and making lots of noise. I would appreciate our money back from Viator. Makes me question future bookings.

The boat was very nice. I was disappointed that my two hour cruise was actually two one-hour cruises so we stopped at the dock after 50 minutes and stayed there for 25 minutes while the boat unloaded and loaded. That should have been made clear when we bought the tickets. A true two hour cruise could have gone further and wouldn’t have sat still for so long. Also, the second hour of the cruise was primarily a lot of detail about every military boat we passed which was not of interest on that level of detail to my group.

This was a beautiful experience and the captain and first mate we both very informative and professional. All other staff in the vessel were also very professional and friendly. We had the option to dismount after the first hour but we enjoyed it so much we stayed for the remaining second hour.

Wonderful Time on the Water

This was me and my husband's first trip to San Diego. Although this was a family fun event, it's also a romantic activity for couples. The best part of the 2 hour trip was the narration along with a variety of snacks and cocktails available to purchase. Although it was a very sunny, 75 degree afternoon, due to the moderate breeze, my husband and I eventually went inside (initially we were sitting outside) because we got cold. I would suggest to always bring a very light sweater or jacket (which we did) because it's always colder when you're actually on the boat. We had a wonderful experience!

I took this tour last year and this year there was a lot less information about San Diego provided which was disappointing. I also purchased a ticket for my little niece to join us, however, she woke up extremely sick and was unable to attend. Customer service with Viator was not helpful in refunding nor giving a future credit saying I did not give 24-hour notice. How do you give 24-hour notice to an 8-year-old child that wakes up throwing up? Disappointing. The trip itself is very relaxing, with great beverages and food and the staff on the boat are extremely nice!
