James was the most knowledgeable polite tour guide ever! Muir Woods should include a guide. The lady at the the outside table —very rude! Told me I was sol because there was no internet connection! I wonder if she would have said that if I had a medical emergency! Never again!

I was a little worried about getting to our tour so early in the morning 6:45am, but I’m so glad to have booked this tour! Our driver James was amazing! He is genuinely friendly, he didn’t come across as faking just to make a tip. The Muir Woods were magical, especially that early. My mom and I had the place to ourselves, it was so peaceful. James stopped so we could grab a drink and snack on the way to the bridge. It was so much fun walking on the Golden Gate Bridge, even though it was super foggy. James then took us to the Alcatraz ferry, he made sure we got in the correct line. We enjoyed our tour of Alcatraz. This is a wonderful tour package, totally worth the money. James offered a lot of interesting information and included informative videos during the ride. I 100% recommend this tour, hopefully you will get James as your driver!

This was a very well organised trip, very comfortable mini bus, driver gave a very good commentary whilst travelling between visits, can recomend the early trip to Muir Wood as by the time we was leaving all the large coaches were pulling in.

Hello! Thank you for the one star review on a trip that never operated and that you did not even attend. We sent you a message two weeks in advance saying that this tour was cancelled and gave you several rebook options. You chose Alcatraz and one hour bay cruise. We even comped you free lunch as a courtesy! We did send your Alcatraz tickets two days prior and even texted you as well to let you know we sent your tickets. You can call Viator and ask them to read the communication details we sent two days and even tell you the time stamp that we sent. This email was 8 paragraphs long with where to go and what to do!! We also sent you new Alcatraz tickets; one hour bay cruise; and a food voucher in its place. We still could not make you happy! You let us know last minute that you could not find the tickets we sent two days prior. We immediate resent them to you twice through Viator and to your direct email! Not sure why you stated we acted like we were trying?!! Thank you for the one star review on everything we did correct! Not sure how we could have made this any more easier for you in this!

The tour was absolutely amazing. The seats on our tour bus were soo comfortable and our driver was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I loved being chauffeured around San Francisco without having to drive. Muir Woods was fresh and relaxing. Loved Alcatraz, the company were not able to fulfil our original booking to the woods and therefore we didn’t have a personal experience with a tour guide or van etc. so that was disappointing, the company did offer us Bay Cruise tickets or Aquarium instead. We took the cruise, which wasn’t anything special. If I’m completely honest, I wouldn’t book again, as I could have booked Alcatraz separately - there wasn’t a personal guide/experience

We told you that well in advance that we were not going to run this tour due to minimums not met and offered you a full refund or alternative options. To save the day for you (rather than cancel and leave you without alcatraz) we offered you a choice: alcatraz plus bay cruise or aquarium; or a full refund. You chose one hour bay cruise. Why rate us a two star damaging our 5 star product on a alternate product? We actually would have preferred you just asked for the refund so we could have done without this two star.

Alcatraz was depressing and interesting. The Golden Gate Bridge was memorable. Muir Woods was the highlight, it was amazing to see these 500-800 year old Redwood trees. Late afternoon/early evening is a great time to visit the woods....not many people and very tranquil!

Thank you for this review. James Road Trip allows for ample time at all of the stops without a rushed feeling when time permits. It also allows time for brunch as it is a long day. We give you maximum time allowing guests to see all they need to within the park. Muir Woods is roughly 4 hours with travel time included and Alcatraz is 2 hours. You decide when to leave Alcatraz so we say plan for 6 hours in your day. Thank you for your feedback and review!

Thank you for the five stars! Yes you had to print the food voucher as that is your payment to the third party vendor. We do send out these vouchers two days prior and even suggest to all that to print them at any hotel, any business center, any concierge even if you aren’t staying at that hotel. The hotel the van departs from even has a business center in the lobby that has a printer while you waited for the van.

Our tour program states we assign a time slot. It is well known at the time of purchase. This package sells an assigned departure time assigned by us for both Alcatraz and Muir woods. It clearly states that we dictate what time Alcatraz and Muir Woods departures will be based on what Alcatraz tickets we have and the parking spot time slot issued by the National Parks. The time could be early as 7am or late as 5pm depending on what tickets we receive. We also reserve the right to order the day in any way we wish as stated in the ad. We realize you want a certain time but that is not what we promise or offer. We do offer a Early Bird Premium 7am tour and you did not select that option therefore it reverts back to our discounted assigned time departure. You may have wanted a 7am tour but we never promised you a 7am tour nor ran a tour that early on your date.

I would give 100 stars if I could. This trip with James was perfect. He picks you up in a large 10 seat van and it is extremely roomy and comfortable and he provides charging cables for phones for every seat. I was pleasantly surprised that we'd be traveling in a small group and not a huge tour bus. Having a small group makes dropping off and picking up so much nicer. It took seconds instead of half an hour or more waiting for everyone. He is very nice and provided tons of awesome history and fun facts as well as played a couple short films about Alcatraz and the bridge while we drove. You get plenty of time at each stop and he keeps you on schedule. If you are not from the area, don't have your own car or don't want to worry about finding your way around in traffic this trip is a MUST!! It literally reduced my stress levels by 1000% by booking this trip instead of trying to piece all the stops together myself and having to drive. Best part of our vacation so far.

Nice combo tour including Alcatraz, Muir Woods and a stop at the Golden Gate Bridge. Alcatraz was sold out, but we were able to get tickets by booking with this combo tour. It was nice to have all the tickets and arrangements handled by the tour. Driver James was friendly and informative. Only thing I didn’t understand was why we had to pay the entry fee at Muir Woods (in addition to the fee we paid for the tour) when the tour we purchased was an Alcatraz / MUIR WOODS / Golden Gate tour. Over all, great day and booking the combo tour was really convenient.

Thank you for your reply. Viator sends so many "get ready" and "cant wait to see you!" emails that our Alcatraz vouchers and messages are often buried deep in those reminders. Future guests should always look at all of their Viator emails to locate details about their departure times to avoid confusion.
