Overview

Discover the famous crooked street in San Francisco—Lombard Street—by Segway. One of the most challenging Segway routes in the City by the Bay, this tour is designed for people have previous riding experience and would like to push their skills. You’ll cruise up Russian Hill, admiring attractions in North Beach and along the water. With a maximum of eight people, this Lombard Street Segway tour provides a small-group experience. This is not a beginner tour. All participants must have had Segway experience within the last two years—at least a 2-hour tour with a guide on the newer-model i2 Segway. Test rides and tours on older models are not eligible. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

What To Expect

From the San Francisco waterfront to the neighborhood of North Beach, aka Little Italy, this advanced Lombard Street Segway tour provides the ultimate—and challenging—way to enjoy this famed crooked attraction.

Starting on Beach Street, meet your guide and hop on your eco-friendly Segway, which allows you to cover more miles than you would by walking but still enjoy the fresh air. Plus, enjoy the side benefit of lessening the number of big tour buses on San Francisco’s hilly streets by participating in this activity.

Take off with your guide, stopping for plenty of photo ops and to listen to narration about city sights. Admire views of San Francisco Bay, and pass by attractions like the Aquatic Park and Fisherman’s Wharf. Look out at Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, and see Coit Tower, the Bay Bridge, St Peter and Paul’s Church, Washington Square Park, and some of the city’s 350 staircases and pedestrian lanes.

Glide up the slopes of Telegraph Hill and Russian Hill, and, of course, ride down Lombard Street. Your tour ends when you return to the starting point.

Please note: You are required to have a minimum of two hours of previous experience riding a Segway in the last two years. When booking, you must indicate the details (where and when) of this past experience in the ‘Special Requirements’ field.

  • All guests must be age 12 or older.
  • All guests must weigh between 100-250 lbs or 45-113 kilos.
  • NOTE: We have a scale on site and check minimum weights for safety of all of our guests. Underweight guests will not be refunded or rescheduled.
  • Additional Requirement for Advance Segway Tour: Previous i2 Segway Experience is required. All riders in your group must have taken a two hour or more guided Segway tour within the last 3 years. Test rides do not qualify. NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Riders under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the tour.
  • No pregnant guests are allowed due to safety reasons.
  • This activity is not recommended for some guests that are: ages 70 years and older, have had recent surgeries or have motor skill/control issues.
  • Each customer must sign a Liability Waiver.
  • Helmets and safety vests are provided and are required.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Near public transportation
  • Not recommended for travelers with back problems
  • Not recommended for pregnant travelers
  • Travelers should have a moderate physical fitness level
  • This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers

  • For a full refund, you must cancel at least 24 hours before the experience’s start time.
  • If you cancel less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time, the amount you paid will not be refunded.
  • Any changes made less than 24 hours before the experience’s start time will not be accepted.
  • Cut-off times are based on the experience’s local time.

The Best Way To See San Fran

Honestly the best way to see the streets and sites of San Fran. Our Segway guide Nic was absolutely superb. Made us all feel very comfortable stepping onto the segway and had a fun and bubbly personality which made the tour enjoyable all the way round . If you want to see the all get major tourist attractions and have fun whilst doing it (and avoid walking those steep hills) book this tour you won’t regret it . Great fun. :-)

The tour day was our last day in US and scheduled to fly in the evening. So we had 2 minds one is having relax day without no tour the other is want to join the advanced segway tour. And we were so relieved that we didn't make a mistake by skipping this tour. So much pleasant times with Melanie and took the privilege to ask for photos as many as we want. Melanie was kind enough to take many photos of us and provide the knowledgeable stories about San Francisco. It was our third time to ride segway and the most exciting as we could ride on the road and hills. Thanks Melanie to make our day wonderful.

This was our 3rd time riding Segways (1st time in SF Golden Gate Park, 2nd time in Boston). This tour was the best by far! Yes, it required previous riding experience, but our tour guide Melanie gave us a refresher on the finer points (like stopping and going up/down hills :) It was so fun going down Lombard street, and we had experienced some beautiful city views at some of the stops. Melanie was a great tour guide and kept us throroughly entertained! We'll definitely be back for more tours!

Great Segway tour. My family and I have taken many Segway tours, but this is the first time we take one where the riders are expected to know how to use a Segway. Therefore, there was no boring instructional introduction and the tour itself was more entertaining. Went through a lot of hills, including Lombrad Street twice. Segways are a great way for getting to know a city. Highly recommended.

Incredible way to discover San Francisco. Segway is a great way to enjoy up and downhill streets...walking to this breathtaking view spots would be practically unbearable for your legs. Cameron our tour/instructor was very entertaining and informative of each spot and also a great photographer! Covered Fishermans Wharf, Nob Hill, Telegraph Hill, North Beach, Coit Tower, and Lombard Street twice! We had some previous experience with segway touring which helped as you ride on the streets of SF and not on bike paths or walkways. Exiting experience, worth every penny!

This was an amazing tour with an awesome guide! If you are an experienced Segway rider and are comfortable with the mechanics of movement, then this is the San Francisco tour for you. San Francisco offers some of the most diverse and challenging street terrain in the world and it's all there for you to experience. Our guide, Melinda, was great! She was adventurous, informative and fun and made the riding experience even better. If you have a few hours, I can't think of a better way of experiencing the City by the Bay.

Melanie was great, full of information. Our only criticism was that the two hour tour passed far too quickly. If we're in San Francisco again we will definitely take another tour, especially if you present a different advanced tour. We did consider many other streets more difficult than Lombard - it at least had good pavement.

Fantastic! We did Lombard street twice, went to Coit Tower and many other places with wonderful views and beautiful SF streets. I was surprised at the distances we covered easily. Our tour guide, Devo, was entertaining and enthusiastic. Riding a Segway down Lombard street was on my wish list for two years, so I had some pretty high hopes, and this tour exceeded them.

Best segway tour ever! Our guide, Marie, was informative, funny, and full of energy. It was our first activity upon arriving in San Francisco, and it gave us a good overview of the city in a short time. And going down Lombard Street on a Segway is the only way to go!

We couldn't do the advanced tour (it should be better indicated on the site that they won't let you do this tour unless you have already done the other Segway tour with them). Fortunately we could do the "basic" tour the same day and at the same time. The team is great and very friendly and I would definitely recommend this place for Segway tours. The tour itself is pretty simple as you don't see that many things, but the ride on the Segway is really fun and you still get to see some of San Fransico streets and the famous Fisherman's Wharf. Definitely a must-do if you have a couple of hours to spare while in SF.

It was great as we had the best instructor, Jeff, however, some of the people in our tour was not really apt for the advanced tour so it kinda ruined our experience. One tip though, do not book the beginner class and advanced class together, as when we finished the beginner class, we got $10 discount each for next tour, which we could not use as we already booked and paid.

beware it is not written explicitly in the description of the tour that you will NOT be able to take this tour if this is your first time on a segway. There is no training and unless you have taken an hour or longer tour in the past 12 months, you will not be allowed to take this tour. We received these instructions AFTER booking the tour. On site the people were super nice and accommodated on the next beginners tour, but VIATOR does not explain this well. Not well enough for us - Other than that, the tour was super super fun. The company and guide incredibly helpful. This is a must-do activity in SF is you can afford it. PS same discounted price as Viator on site -
