Gate J is located right next to the sea lion viewing area (ask someone where are sea lions are if lost).

What To Expect

Don’t just take photos of San Francisco Bay from the waterfront—get out on the water itself pm this SF sailing tour. Your experience starts on the Embarcadero, where you hop aboard the 55- or 65-foot (17- or 20-meter) Adventure Cat and set out across the bay.

Take a picture or two of the city skyline and resident sea lions as they become smaller and smaller, and listen to commentary from your captain about the city and other sights that line the water.  If you want to stay warm and dry, you can enjoy 360-degree views from the catamaran’s protected interior; if you’re feeling a bit more daring, take a seat on the trampoline nets, where you can soak in the salty ocean air.

Cruise past Alcatraz Island, look up at the towering Golden Gate Bridge and admire the charming small town of Sausalito, just across the bridge. If you like, you can purchase snacks, beer, wine or soft drinks from the onboard bar.

Your tour ends when you return to the marina in San Francisco.

The Captain and his Chief Officer Michael, were wonderful and made our sailing trip delightful for everyone! They were knowledgeable about the safety on the boat, the surrounding areas and panoramic views and where and when to snap the 'perfect picture........a total day of pleasure!

Beautiful November day! A sun-filled 1.5 hour relaxing sail in the San Francisco Bay sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge & passing by Alcatraz. The view of the city from the water is spectacular! We loved it!

We flew out to San Francisco to get married and really wanted to go sailing the day after - I did some looking around and decided that based off the reviews and price that this tour was the best option. It didn’t disappoint! Following the directions included we were easily able to find the check-in gate. We got there the 30 minutes early that it recommended but you can’t get past the gate and we didn’t see anyone. However about 10 minutes later someone came out to start the check-in process which was fast and easy. The crew was super helpful and friendly the entire time - some of the other tourists even got to help hoist the sail up as we took off which was fun to watch and I’m sure even better to actually do! We were blessed by beautiful weather, we saw seals, dolphins, and even a group of planes fly over as we sailed. Seeing the Golden Gate Bridge up close and going underneath was amazing. So was seeing the city from the water! Make sure to wear an extra layer or two because it gets super cold when the boat really gets moving and even colder when the sail blocks out the sun. Fortunately you can seek shelter in the boat and they have extra jackets on board you can borrow. Snacks and drinks are extra but seemed reasonably priced. I obviously can’t rate the other trips that are offered but I would book this again!

Captain Andrew and his crewmates Chad and Christina were wonderful! They were personable, laidback, and knowledgeable about all things sailing and points of interest about the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and wildlife in the Bay. They were willing to take photographs of us as we sailed. This was my second trip with my guests from Colorado; it was absolutely thrilling for my guests and without the crowds that a ferry boat cruise involves. Money well spent! Very safe. I loved how they really took an interest in the guests aboard and allowed them to feel a part of the sailing experience itself. I highly recommend this experience!

We have never been on a catamaran before so just getting on the yacht was an experience in in itself. Safety procedures where covered off first. Jackets were all around the inside just in case it was cold, which l did use. (Side note, might be time for them to have a freshen up in the washing machine 🙃). Exciting going under the Golden Gate Bridge, the whole experience was very special, thank you.

It was awesome and exceeded my expectations. A wonderful, romantic trip that we thoroughly enjoyed together. The operator was extremely professional. I think most of the other people on the boat were from outside Cali but we took the trip as Bay Area residents and I am very glad we spent the day this way.

We booked the Alcatraz ferry ride but it was unclear that the time frame will be provided by you. We can’t make it to the time frame which was given, and it says its non refundable. I just blew closer to $200

Thanks for taking the time to write this Erica, and we're very sorry you had a bad booking experience, but we do have to point out that we don't actually sell Alcatraz tickets through Viator/TripAdvisor. It's very likely that you did purchase an Alcatraz ticket on their platform, but from a different end provider. In our system it does show your party checked in and made it on our SF Bay Sail, which goes by Alcatraz, but does not actually stop there, however we continue on the catamaran out under the GG Bridge. We certainly hope you enjoyed sailing with Adventure Cat and, if you feel up for it, you may want to transfer this review to the appropriate provider. Many thanks! Thanks for coming out!
