For Hilton Union Square - meet at the Mason street entrance (Eastern entrance). For other locations, please meet outside hotel main doors. If your hotel is not listed, please select Hilton Union Square or Hotel Zephyr Fisherman's Wharf or alternatively add your hotel and we will provide the closest pick-up location. You will be provided your exact pick-up location and time upon confirmation. Please always refer to the providers confirmation.

What To Expect

Hotel pickup in San Francisco begins with the drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, meaning you’ll reach Muir Woods before many other tours arrive. Muir Woods National Monument is home to a pristine forest of California coastal redwoods, which are some of the planet’s tallest and oldest trees with heights that can reach 250 feet (76 meters). You have some time here to wander through the grove of giant sequoias and cross over mossy streams. Then return to the tour vehicle for the drive further north into wine country.

When you reach your first winery in Sonoma County’s Carneros region, you can explore the grounds, enjoy photo ops of the vineyard and sample a variety of wines in a welcoming atmosphere. For lunch, guests can choose one of two lunch options. The first is to venture out on their own and the second option is to upgrade their wine country experience to the next level with a private seated gourmet food and wine pairing experience at a local restaurant. Enjoy delicious local food paired with a collection of California wines.

Afterward, continue your tour to your second and third wineries in Sonoma County or Napa County for more tastings. Enjoy a leisurely stop at each winery, and you’ll have the chance to taste 3 to 5 wines of different varietals, from white to red to sparkling. Tasting fees are included, and you may purchase bottles not available in retail stores to take home.
 
Your day trip ends with the drive back across the Golden Gate Bridge. Admire views of the vast Pacific and the rugged coastline before hotel drop-off.

  • For the rare event that commercial parking is not available at Muir Woods, we reserve the right to arrange an alternative destination for experiencing Giant Coastal Redwoods during your Muir Woods and Wine Country Tour.
  • Please always refer to the providers confirmation for exact pick-up time and location as this may differ from your hotel. Multiple hotel pick-ups are available, the time mentioned on the voucher is the first pick-up time, please allow a 45 minute window for pick-ups to be complete.
  • If lunch upgrade is selected, your group will sit together for a table-side presentation of local wines paired with each expertly prepared course of California cuisine.
  • For Private Tour option, size of vehicle will be dependent on the size of your party
  • NOTE: Tastings are usually held at Ru Vango Winery, Muscardini Cellars and Mayo Family Winery, but locations are subject to change, depending on availability.
  • If lunch option selected, please specify your choice of one item per course during the booking process, or the local partner reserves the right to choose on your behalf. All courses are paired with wine. Guide took away from experience

Muir Woods was incredible. The three wineries were fine. Didn’t taste anything worth buying. The whole trip would have been better if the guide didn’t talk about himself constantly. Learned way more about our guide’s life than we did about the locations we traveled to.

The trip to Napa was beautiful despite the poor weather, a great break from the city. Very knowledgeable tour guide. The weather caused trip to Muir Woods to be cancelled, disappointing but you can’t help the weather. Worst part was AC on bus did not work and the trip up was blazing hot….people were feeling sick. Again not the fault of the driver, things happen. He tried. Better on way back as we left the door open while we were stopped and it finally aired out. Longer lunch in Sonoma would have been nice.

Doug was great. Tour company was horrible. Trip to muir woods was canceled without us knowing. Bus had heat only which made the drive horrible. Avoid this tour.

High winds and flooding from the recent "atmospheric river" in Northern California caused the National Park Service to close Muir Woods for several days to clear downed trees and standing water from the trails. We (and other tour operators) were informed of the planned closure at 6:00 PM the evening before your scheduled tour. We sent all guests an email and a text about the situation. James, glad we talked and that you now understand that we tried hard to reach you. If you have time on this visit or another trip, please contact us and we'll get you on a Muir Woods tour--no cost to you.

Do it if you cannot drive down

The trip was ok. The place is super stunning but something about the non stop narration/ the guides chatting with some Canadian folks on the bus didn’t allow for it to be an immersive experience. If you love nature and want to be absorbed in a quiet sort of a drive where you can really enjoy the sites without a constant voice telling you stuff this is not the way to do it. Go with friends on a drive - much better as you don’t need to be always “on”. Randall’s constant plugging of stores was also not cool. Overall recommended if you have no options to drive down by yourself and if you are the kind that loves to chat during nature gigs

Great tour guide. Doug was very knowledgeable. The bus had some issues that should be worked on. It rained all day so when we would get back in it would fog up all the windows and made it difficult to see. Any sights. This would be a five star review if the bus had no issues.

Muir Woods was my favorite part of the trip, without a doubt. The scenery was simply enchanting, like a forest straight out of a faery tale! Wine tastings were fun as well, but that first visit to see the redwoods had me stoked already throughout the day.

The tour guide was great but there were bus air conditioning issues that made the ride uncomfortable all day. He told great stories and provided great tips. One thing I wish I knew was that this is not a 10 hour day, plan for 12-13. I didn’t read that on other reviews but thought a 2.5 hour break from the time we were supposed to be back wound be enough time. It was not.
