What To Expect

Your starting point is Fisherman’s Wharf, where you’ll pick up your bike (and if you like, upgrade to an electric bicycle) as well as all safety equipment. Then it’s off to explore San Francisco! Don’t worry about the hills—your savvy guide is well-versed in all of the flattest routes, as well as some hidden nooks known only to locals.

While it may be foggy and cool in one neighborhood, it may be sunny and warm in the next, so dressing in layers is your best option. The tour includes 10 photo stops, which double as informational stops where your guide will shares facts, stories and history on local sights. Food and drink breaks along the way include an optional lunch at a roaming pod of gourmet food trucks, and a coffee and tea break in the Haight (all food and drinks are at your own expense).

On this four-hour tour, you’ll wind your way through North Beach alleyways and past the Transamerica Pyramid before coming upon the former Barbary Coast, once a den of concert saloons, dance halls, and brothels. Then you’ll make your way around AT&T ballpark and pedal past San Francisco’s colorful Victorian and Edwardian homes, including Alamo Square’s famous “Painted Ladies.”

You’ll continue through San Francisco's Latino Mission District (also a hub of DIY culture), Civic Center—home to San Francisco City Hall—and the colorful Castro and Haight-Ashbury neighborhoods, then on through the newer NOPA (North of the Panhandle) neighborhood and Polk Gulch, with its bevy of bars and restaurants. The route will take you past some incredible street art, and the ride’s leisurely pace helps provide an authentic feel of each distinct area.

Your guided bicycling adventure concludes at Aquatic Park in Fisherman’s Wharf, but this doesn’t necessary mean you’re done cycling. The bicycle is yours to use for the rest of the day.

Adam was an AMAZING tour guide. He was passionate about his work, knowledgeable about the city, and patient with us. This was our first time visiting and Adam showed us a great time. We got to see so many key features of San Francisco and it was all in the rain!! I 100% recommend this experience and if you get Adam, you're definitely in for a great time. Thank you for welcoming us so warmly to San Francisco.

Great way to see SF!
Marc_M, May 2023
Adam was a GREAT guide and was very knowledgeable about everything. He also looked out for us if we missed lights etc. He also modified the trip as we went along to add things or avoid large hills. Definitely would recommend, great way to see the city and with e-bikes the hills were not a problem.
Great fun and learned lots about SF
Maureen_H, Jan 2023
This was really fun and we saw a lot of SF. The e-bikes made it enjoyable, although you still have to be a decent bike rider just to maneuver through traffic. Adam was our guide and very passionate about the city. It would be nicer if they had headphones do he could talk as he rode and everyone in the group could hear. We stopped at several places and he spoke to the group but as we ride only the person closest could hear. Overall though, it was really fun and enjoyable.
Thank you Adam!

Adam was a delight as our tour guide. Very insightful and thoughtful stops along the tour. The food truck stop is great, as well. This was my first time ever riding a bike through a city and I really enjoyed it.
Great fun bike ride!

Adam was an awesome travel guide! He clearly takes time to learn accurate information and shares it with great passion and respect for San Francisco!
Fabulous day with Adam!
Emily_T, Nov 2022
Our guide, Adam, brought the city to life with his passion and knowledge. I have traveled to San Francisco several times over two decades, but this is the first time I have truly understood the history and current context. The bonus is that you get to keep the bike(s) after the tour to explore on your own, so we rode across the Golden Gate and back...essentially adding a second tour to our first one. What a bargain! I cannot recommend this company, tour, and Adam highly enough!
Highly recommend

I only had the weekend in SF while on a business trip and wanted to get an overall feel for the city. The bike tour was a perfect fit, fresh to fight jet lag and feeling close to the local vibe riding through all the neighbourhoods. Adam the tour guide was awesome, knowledgeable and friendly he made the day very enjoyable.
Insightful tour of San Francisco

THANK YOU, ADAM!!!
Kimberly_H, Aug 2022
I booked this tour for four of my friends and me so that we could get an up-close view of the city that we probably wouldn't get on a tour bus. At first, we were all apprehensive about riding bikes on the big hills--both going up (huff puff!) and coming down (yikes!). But, thankfully, the bikes were very easy to control and provided the extra power when needed. Adam--our very informative, passionate, and entertaining tour guide--was the best part of the tour. We learned so much from him and his love for the city is contagious. Shout out to the guide that was in the back making sure that no one got left behind or lost. I highly recommend this tour if you want to explore the city and Adam, of course!
Awesome Adam

Biking adventure
Glenda_F, May 2022
This was a fun trip. I would highly recommend the electric bikes. It made it much easier on the hills. We wide back (without guide) and had issues with chain coming off 2 times. I recommend including a tool to help fix chain. Otherwise it was great.
Fun experience
Jessica_D, Mar 2022
The hills were crazy!! Coming down the hills was fun and a bit scary. Our guide ,Adam, was very knowledgeable about the city's history and it's future.

Adam was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable and just as importantly a very safe rider. I kept the bike for another 2 hours after the tour i loved it so much. The bikes are so easy to use and it is Amazing the distances u can cover with them.
Response from Host, Mar 2022
Thank you. Yes the guided tours always include a post-tour bonus bike rental, so glad you took advantage of it!
Long but informative
Joline_C, Aug 2021
Tour was informative. We had Adam as our guide. There is a few really big hills that I had difficulty getting up w the bike and I am a seasoned bike rider, so I don't recommend for people that aren't good bike riders. A LITTLE bit too long of a tour. Lots of good points of interest though. The fortune cookie factory, mission Street mural , painted ladies houses. The bay Bridge. Chase building mirror ball spheres. City Hall. Lots to see.
Great tour

Adam was an excellent guide Great knowledge about the history of SF And he Loves the city Thank you Adam
Terrible tour!!
Dorothy_E, Jun 2021
This was a terrible experience! Guide was one of the least informative and lack luster guides I have ever had. Tour lacked any information about the area and simply equates to a boring bike ride through busy streets. I would definitely not recommend.
Response from Host, Jun 2021
Hello Dorothy, We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed in our guided tour, and we are surprised to hear this feedback from one of our most requested guides. If you look back on our reviews, you will find that Steve has received many compliments on his guided tours. While we will nonetheless pass on this feedback, as we always strive for excellence in our guides and staff, we hope you still had an enjoyable ride through the city with us.
Well spent dY

The electric bike was great and...
Erin n, Oct 2017
The electric bike was great and helped a ton on the big hills. It made the ride a lot more enjoyable. We enjoyed the trip through the city, over the bridge and down to Sausalito. The only thing I would say is that they have too many in the group.
