What To Expect

Discover the life and legacy of Walt Disney at The Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio of San Francisco. This tribute to the famous animator features 40,000 square feet (3,715 square meters) of interactive galleries engaging to all ages.

Learn the behind-the-scenes stories of Walt’s challenges and successes at exhibits narrated in his own voice. Check out a Disneyland model to see how Walt originally imagined the happiest place on earth. Spend time to examine Walt’s early cartoons, films and drawings. The sparkling San Francisco Bay is also visible through the museum’s popular glass wall.

See early drawings, cartoons, and films created by Walt, and hear about his disappointments and triumphs at listening stations narrated in his own voice. Marvel at the staggering collection of awards Walt won, and don't miss the model of the Disneyland as he initially imagined it. Upgrade to also gain access to the Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall. Tour this inspiring museum at your own pace, staying as long as you wish during opening hours. Before you leave, make sure to take some gorgeous photos of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay through the museum's wall of glass and from the grounds.

I enjoyed looking at all the memorabilia, awards, sketches etc. This museum is more for adult and late teens who have an interest in hoe the Disney corp started.

Great museum! No proof of vaccine required but they did make sure we Wore out masks correctly. Patrons were spaced out so that we felt safe.

There was so much more content this museum had to offer than we originally thought. We spent 2 hours here and loved every minute, an insanely interesting museum and look into Walt’s history. Highly recommend.

The museum itself was INCREDIBLE!! Every display and historical information were well put together and organized. The staff from entrance to all the way to exit were ALL FRIENDLY and ON-TOP if their job. Meaning, they greet, have very proper way of speaking to all visitors, stay around to make sure people follow rules and kept mask on for SAFETY, guided visitors to right directions, and they were simply NICE workers and showed they loved what they do. The manager at Walt Disney name Christine was phenomenal. We’ve explained our situation of getting lost in the city, which explained how we got there late than scheduled time we originally set; she understood our situation and worked with us. These truly showed how she valued customers and what type of manger or leader she is. This reflected how she run the business with great skills for people and more than sure how she deals and trains her Walt Disney staffs. Overall, I was very pleased with the museum’s displays and history, and the ENTIRE WONDERFUL workers and manager ( Christine). Thank you ALL! Almina
The Disney Story is Fascinating!

It is a wonderful property to visit. The museum itself is full of fascinating Disney history presented chronologically. It gave you a real sense of the overall Disney story with lots of insights on little known aspects of the family's life. It takes more than 90 minutes to go through. If you really take it all in it would be a three-hour visit. There were some limitations due to COVID restrictions, and while they were probably a little too cautious, overall, they handled it well.

Wonderful museum. Covers so much of the history of Walt Disney from his early beginnings to present. Wonderful that it has a nice home in the Presidio. We also did the special exhibit which closes in January. Well worth the time and the price.

The beginning of the museum says the average visitor spends two and a half to three hours at the museum. We were there seven hours! Fascinating looks at one of our American icons of ingenuity. It was also great to see actual examples of the equipment developed by Disney and his company that advanced the development of animated film, like the multiplane film machine.
