Amazing exhibits!
Kenneth_H, Jan 2023
The museum and its exhibits were amazing. We unfortunately could not get into the Ramses exhibit but still had a educationally good time.
We enjoy all exhibits...

We enjoy all exhibits especially Ramesse as it reminded us being back in the Valley of the Kings. I would recommend this exhibit to others to see for themselves
Scam

3rd party scam, get a refund or don't use them. Waste of money, I'll be on them to make sure I get my refund for sure
Good to visit without kids.

Observation tower! Absolutely beautiful view of Golden Gate Park and the rest of SF. The art is wonderful but most of the descriptions seem to find something wrong with America on which to focus… like not just the rooms focused on racial issues or on immigration but nearly every piece in the museum.

The impressive artwork and spacious building. Friendly staffs but one only with angry eyes!! Nice garden sculptures and the BIG safety pin!
100% Worth it!

Golden Gate Park was gorgeous and a fun place to walk around and hang out. We went to see the Judy Chicago exhibit at the de Young which was impressive! We also went to the top of the museum to get a 360 view of the city. Awesome. Highly recommend!
The Museum is a neat place to explore.

The skyline was closed due to maintenance, but despite that, my experience was pleasant. I had a nice time looking at the paintings and sculptures. They have a video projected on the wall towards the end and that was very cool. I also enjoyed reading about each piece of art and gaining a better understanding of the story behind them. Overall, the museum was neat and interesting.
Poor customer service

I did not have a good experience and will not use again. I mistakenly purchased tickets or the wrong day and called IMMEDIATELY — 90 seconds later— and could not get an exchange or refund. I know I made an error but ZERO customer service. Not impressed.
Great!

It was boring. Nothing special. Art museum employees unfriendly. I wouldn’t go back. Art brochure had no information about the rooms th ewr mes etc.
Not what I expected.

Outside sculptures were nice. I also thought the oil paintings were interesting. Thought there would be more ancient artifacts.
No entry to Frida exhibit
Alise_O, Oct 2020
Ticket purchase was deceptive on the website. We thought we were buying tickets to the Frida Kahlo exhibit- it stated no where that it was sold out. The museum was cool as always but we were there to see Frida. Will try again!

We purchased our tickets online from VIATOR so we’re shocked when we got to the DeYoung to find out the museum was sold out for the day and we wouldn’t be admitted . Ticket person had a small attitude but changed when I told her I was a tourist from Boston and we had never been there before. She called a supervisor over who admitted us.
Smooth process

Great museum - my favorite in SF! Nice service from viator, and was able to get my ticket pass at the desk. Hoping in the future they can make it electronic.
DeYoung is wonderful. Viator is not.

THIS REVIEW IS NOT FOR THE MUSEUM. The museum is wonderful. I bought a ticket for the DeYoung on Viator off a link on a Facebook article about a special exhibit. The article talked about the exhibit and the link underneath said “Buy tickets here.” When we got to the DeYoung, we learned that what I had bought was a coupon to be redeemed for general admission. We also didn’t have a reservation for the day we purchased for (which is needed now because of Covid). Thanks to the wonderful staff at the DeYoung we managed to get in for general admission even though they were full. I will never buy a ticket on Viator again.

Even having pre-paid for admission, we still had to wait in a long line to get the voucher exchanged for a ticket to get into the museum. The museum itself was fun and interesting I especially liked the tower.
