Overview

Spend an adventurous day exploring rivers and caves with this small-group tour of the Arenales Caves. You'll hike through rivers, visit an underground cave, and get the chance to do some swimming. You'll finish off your day of adventure with a hike to a small hidden spring before returning to your hotel.

It is great family adventure. My teenage daughter loved it. It involves climbing and swimming. Yamile is great tour guide, she keeps everyone involved and make it personal for everybody in the group. She is very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico history and culture and can answer any of your questions. Highly recommend this tour if you are planning your vacation to Puerto Rico.

The trip was perfectly timed, exhausting but rewarding, definitely one of my favorite experiences in Puerto Rico and Yamile was the perfect guide!
Highlight of Our PR Trip

In all my travel this trip was stood out as unique and so carefully curated by Yamile to deliver an exceptional and authentic experience. We caught the van (which was new and pristine) in Old San Juan with the other 4 couples. Yamile was so welcoming and knowledgeable, with an infectious energy that filled the day with joy. We felt like we were a part of her family because it was clear that she thought about every detail of the day personally and with care. She mentioned going into the caves the day before to clear out debris from the recent storm so we would have a clear path through. She also knew where all the potential hidden underwater rocks and other hazards were-pointing them out to us so we could avoid them. As others mentioned- this is a physical tour and not for the faint of heart. We hiked and swam all day, sometimes scaling along narrow rocks and trails. It was exceptionally beautiful with blue-green water, waterfalls, jungle surroundings, and we saw not another soul beyond our group. Yamile pointed out and explained fossils and unusual plants, and shoed us the effects of the storms on the landscape. Almost everyone did the jumps from various rocks into the rivers, which were chilly but not freezing. The water temperature was perfect for a hot day in April- and the areas we went to were shaded all day. Not sure if this was only April, but there were no bugs/mosquitos. The recommendation to wear biking shorts or leggings with a long sleeve swim shirt were spot on- for warmth and protection in the water and while climbing. You definitely don't need hats or sunglasses. A waterproof cell phone pouch with a lanyard or crossbody strap is essential. Lunch was a cool local eatery with a counter where you can choose from many different offerings- most sold by weight. I created a tasting plate because I couldn't choose. If you go to the same place, make sure to get the small cup of cheese flan. Best I have ever tasted. I cannot thank Yamile enough for the memories we have form this amazing day.

My friends & I had so much fun doing this excursion. It was super hot out so that was a plus but we enjoyed every minute of it. Definitely recommend!
Challenging but fun

Our guide was terrific and we enjoyed the excursion immensely. Be aware that you must be in pretty good shape. The tour itself was difficult but fun, HOWEVER, at the end you have to walk up a VERY long and VERY steep hill. I was fine until that hill and ended up with a really bad case of heat exhaustion. It sucked. I've never had that happen before but our guide was very sweet and let me lie down in the van with the AC running. Up until that point, we loved it!

I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for an adventure off the beaten path. Swimming through the caves and waterfalls was definitely a highlight of our trip. Make sure you are physically prepared to do some climbing and have sturdy water shoes before you go.

Such a fantastic and fascinating time. I felt intoxicated by the beautiful nature Yamile shared with us. Each part was better than the last and also the lunch spot midway is unforgettable! This is an amazing trip with an excellent tour guide. I highly recommend this for the beautiful views. We brought our kids, ages 12 and 15, and they also loved this adventure. It is a very unique experience and Yamile (the guide) is extremely knowledgeable. She also took over 100 photos and videos of everyone in the group and shared them with all of us.

We had the most amazing time on this adventure. It was a little challenging in parts, but nothing too crazy. The scenery was amazing and beautiful. Yamille is an amazing guide and person! She really took her time to make sure everyone had a great time. She went above and beyond. She took photos of all of us and made sure we got it at the end of the tour. Yamille even helped me make plans with another company for the next day because the tour I booked was abruptly cancelled. This had nothing to do with her, yet she wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time in PR. I would not hesitate to book with this company again because of Yamille's dedication and kindness.

What an amazing time!! This tour is so amazing, relaxing and beautiful. Yamile is an exceptionally good host and was so knowledgeable about the whole experience. She was able to tell us so much history of the caves and how they were formed. Yamile definitely went above and beyond to help everyone in the group as well as answer all the questions folks had. I will definitely be taking this tour again next time in Puerto Rico, a MUST DO!!!!!

This was an amazing experience! The group was limited and small. Our guide Yamile was the best. She was super informative and kept us all laughing. She made arrangements for us to park with our rental car. She bent over backwards to make sure everyone had a good time. You can take your phone in a waterproof case, which I did, but I would not do it again. Yamile took photos and videos of the group all day and then air dropped them to us at the end of the trip. Keep your hands free and let her take the photos! I would give 10 stars. Book this trip!!

The Arenales Caves tour with the Puerto Rico as a Local company was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. The caves, rivers, rainforest, and waterfalls were breathtaking, and the whole day was truly a wonder. Our tour guide Yamile was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, funny, warm, and patient, and she made the whole experience so much fun. It would be worth traveling to Puerto Rico solely for this tour, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We had an amazing experience! It was adventurous, beautiful and a once in a lifetime experience. It gives you a different perspective on all the beautiful nature the island has to offer. Camille was incredible, the best tour guide we had on our trip to Puerto Rico. The lunch spot had some of the best food we tried in Puerto Rico.

Amazing tour, we are so happy we did this tour. Yamile is an excellent tour guide full of information, fun and personality. The tour is a little challenging so make sure you have good water shoes and are comfortable swimming in deep waters with your life vest. Highly highly recommend if you are going to be in Puerto Rico and do it with Yamile.

This was a very enjoyable experience of beautiful San Juan away from the beaches. You have some very intense walking through difficult passages but well worth it when you get there. Yamile is an excellent host and you will love this trip should you decide to take it!

Incredible and such a memorable experience! It was my third trip to Puerto Rico, but I have never done anything like this before. Make sure that you are physically up for it, and be prepared to swim for a couple hours in the beautiful caves (water shoes are highly preferred!). Yamile is a very passionate and knowledgable guide. Highly recommend!
