A unique experience

This kayaking adventure was an anniversary gift for my daughter and son in law. They said it was a unique experience. The van picked them up on time and driver was friendly and courteous. They were given free time to kayak around to get comfortable with paddling and saw the sun go down. The guides were knowledgeable and very observant about safety. Then each kayak had a small light in front to paddle to Bio Bay. They thought paddling through the mangroves was an awesome experience. One suggestion was that they wished they had more time under the tarp to experience the fluoresce experience. They would have liked more time observing this phenomenon.

Fun and new experience. Great for beginner kayakers as well. The guides were knowledgeable and funny! We also appreciated having travel from/to San Juan. Would highly recommend!

A Spectacular Experience

It was fascinating learning about the conditions needed to create this phenomenon. The paddle through th channel was really incredible, complete with "jungle sounds" . We were there on a night that the clouds were reflecting, yet we still got to see the glowing plankton from under a tarp.

Not worth it

The trip was managed well and transportation was easy along with getting in/out of the kayaks. However, this just isn’t worth it at all. A lot of money to see tiny sparks in the water. Guides were friendly but barely provided any education except in the middle and half of us couldn’t hear. Just skip it.

Great tour, crew was amazing, weather was good for kayaking but the moon was too bright to see the amazing bio bay. The crew did their best to try to replicate the experience. Fun kayaking at night.

This was a great experience. We were picked up in San juan from a local hotel and it took about an hour to go to Fajardo. After about 30min of set up, the guides helped us into the kayaks and let us through the experience. The guides were friendly, safe, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend

A very cool thing to do. Even just the kayaking through the mangroves in the dark was awesome enough. The bioluminescence was even better, though obviously better without clouds or a moon.

Wonderful experience! Kayaking was fun, not too scary in the dark, and about 3 miles total. The tour guides were great! And the plankton were sooo cool. Definitely Not like the photos on google, more muted but still very cool to see.

Everything aligned for us: The day before was also sunny, so the micro-organisms could feed. Also, the next day was a new moon, so we had the cover of darkness. Finally, the rain held off until about an hour after our tour finished. I loved padding through a starlit mangrove forest, gliding my hand through the water to see "sparks and sparkles", and learning about this amazing phenomenon.

Don’t waste your time or money

The staff was kind. The tour sucked. After kayaking against the current in the dark for what felt like three and a half days, we finally made it to the bay. There we were greeted by a very faint sparkle in the water. The staff provided some tarps to block out the little bit of moonlight which helped a little bit, but the faint sparkle was still only slightly visible in the water. As an alternative to this tour, I recommend staying at home, sprinkling some glitter in the bathtub and flopping around for a little bit.
