Traveler Tips

Water shoes aren’t sufficient for the hike - but shoes that can get wet and have traction are the best bet.
It’s muddy and fun and exciting; make sure to wear old clothes!
Be prepared to get a bit muddy and bring water shoes or shoes you don’t really care about.

Perfect trip, would do again
Benjamin_M, Mar 2023
A perfect trip! A short hike with some cool experiences, then a decent amount of time at Luquillo beach with some AMAZING food (try the mofongo bowls at the place near where we stopped). The bio bay was beautiful, and the trip was awesomeeee! Also, shout out to our wonderful tour guides for making a very memorable experience
Adrianna was great!
Chanel_P, Mar 2023
Our tour guide, Adrianna, was the BEST! She was so kind, welcoming, knowledgeable about the forest and its significance in Taino culture. Great upbeat personality and not to mention she did a backflip off of the highest cliff. She has a lot of experience in the forest and knows the terrain very well. Definitely would recommend booking a tour because parts of the hike would’ve been very difficult or even dangerous without her guidance. So thankful for Adrianna! Well worth the cost and the experience.

Frankie was an amazing guide. The hike was beautiful and so are the water activities (slides and cliff jump). The team also did an amazing job in creating videos for us. Would highly recommend folks visiting PR, to give this a shot!

The best part of our trip to Puerto Rico! You won’t be disappointed!
Shanna_S, Mar 2023
The cliff jump, rope swing, waterfall slide were sooo much fun! Our tour guides were amazing!!! We really enjoyed the rain forest! The stop for lunch in between went really fast. The kayaking tour was sooo good! We really got to see the glowing waters. The sun set and the stars was all incredible! Those tour guides were fantastic too! I would highly recommend the trip! So thankful we did it. The pictures and videos shared at both places were really very good!!
Good trip

Rain forest adventure was awesome and the guides were super friendly. However, the kayaking portion was underwhelming and the guides weren't nearly as interested.

5 stars for the El Yunque part of the tour and our tour guide, Julian! Bio Bay tour was cool but very difficult for first time kayakers. Not much guidance. We didn’t get to see much of the bioluminescence- it was just a faint white glow around our hands when we submerged our hands underwater.

The El yunque tour was absolutely worth every penny! Jason was an awesome tour guide and we had a blast and got a great workout as well. The Bio Bay tour was a great way to cap off the day.
Fantastic hike with in a breathtaking forest!
Elisa_B, Feb 2023
Adrianna and Luis were amazing from the time they picked us up at the hotel until they dropped us back off. They explained everything we saw and were unbelievably supportive throughout the hike. The forest and rainfalls were amazing and a true once in a lifetime experience. Would recommend to anyone.
Rainforest fun
Heather_B, Feb 2023
Our tour guides were awesome and kept us safe and having a great time. Their enthusiasm was contagious. We had a great day and came home with amazing memories and ready for a good night of sleep.
Fun experience
Daniella_L, Feb 2023
Our tour guide, Julian and bus driver Elias were awesome! They focused on our safety but also included some Jokes and had fun overall. We had a great experience getting to see el Yunque rainforest. It does get very muddy which you have to prepare yourself physically and wear good grip shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Luckily, the water shoes we wore worked great for us as they were easy to clean afterwards. We also enjoyed the bio bay kayaking as the guides were helpful and provided tarps to make it light up better since we came when it was close to full moon. Overall, I would recommend this tour to others and would come again.
Tour guide was awesome!...

Tour guide was awesome! We explored amazing areas of the rainforest, would highly recommend. Cannot wait to come back to this incredible island.
Super fun day!!
Olivia_M, Jan 2023
Our tour guides Jason & Luis from Bespoke tour company were great. Helpful and knowledgeable! They picked us up at our hotel, called when they were there. They made a stop at Walgreens which was very awesome. That’s the last time you’ll use the bathroom until lunch. We could keep our things on the bus. The hike wasn’t super long. We were lucky it wasn’t too muddy! Pretty slippery. Definitely wear sneakers that you don’t care about, water shoes, or hiking boots. There’s a rope swing, cliffs to jump, and a natural water slide!! I brought my waterproof backpack but they tell you not to bring anything because you don’t leave it behind when going up to the water activities. There were quite a few people there on a Friday. After we hiked back to the van we went to lunch at El Famboyán Original. It was delicious!! There was a bar and cool outdoor seating. After late lunch Felix picked us up and we went to Fajardo and met our tour guides from Glass bottom tours. Don’t remember their names but they weren't a match for the groups energy. It was very cool to kayak through the mangroves! Saw a few Iguanas!! Didn’t see many Bioluminescents in the Bay but saw a few. They said there are lots of reasons there weren’t many, one was rain. They were knowledgeable! He did show us Mars, Saturn, and Venus in the sky!! That was amazing! Didn’t let us bring any bags, phones, & cameras. It would weigh down the kayak.. and could lose it. I didn’t like that part. I thought if I felt confident enough to bring something like a waterproof bag with my camera or phone in it, I want to be able to make that choice. We kayaked back in the pitch black only light was the stars. That was a crazy, fun day! We met a lot of great people! I think it’s a good for the money, they pick you up drive you around, and drop you off. That was huge because we didn’t rent a car for the trip. Would recommend!

This was something totally out of my comfort zone. And I enjoyed every last bit of it. Jason and Luis were really great. They went our pace and answered all of our questions. Coming from someone that does not do well with nature lol, I really enjoyed and embraced it. I would def recommend this tour to anyone that is looking to get out their comfort zone and embrace this island. Wear clothing that you do not care about due to mud and climbing . Your body will be sore the next day. Thank you Jason and Luis.

LIFETIME EXPERIENCE
Daniela_C, Jan 2023
This excursion was amazing. The hiking the views the water activities. Everything was awesome. The whole process was super smooth. The pickup, getting there, the tour. Our guide Jason was spectacular! He was SO SO friendly, and helpful, and all the information he gave throughout the whole experience was very helpful and insightful. This excursion was definitely worth the money. The experience will last you a lifetime. The kayaking was breathtaking. Especially after it got dark. Wow. Definitely something you have to experience at least once in your life. I am 100% satisfied with everything. Invest in this lifetime memory and experience. You won’t regret it. It’s definitely an ALL day activity. Be prepared. Wear good shoes. No crocs or sandals. Take at least 2 changes of clothes and sandals for after. Make sure you bring a plastic bag to put the wet muddy clothes and shoes in. Stay very hydrated and have fun!
Great but confusing adventure
Michael_K, Jan 2023
This adventure is 3 items sold as a combo. The description was confusing - I hope to provide clarity. Rain forest is a 30 - 45 minute walk to a water basin for swimming, rope swinging, and cliff jumping. I am over 50, in good but not great shape, and had no trouble on the outing. If you want to go to the next activity point, you hike up rocky crevices and there is light rock climbing with easy holds. This brings you to a natural water slide. Time is spent going down slide then hiking back to the water basin. Additional time is spent here. Of the 2.5 hours in the rain forest, most of the time is spent hanging around the natural water features. Closed toe shoes with good tread is mandatory - these can be sneakers or walking sandals - it was very muddy and rocky. It was not physically stressful but a difficult hike. About an hour total hiking time + another 30 minutes hiking to the water slide and back. No items brought into the forest, just you in whatever you are willing to get wet in (swim suit, swim shirt, etc). Pictures from your guide were low res, not very useful. We were encouraged not to bring in our cameras / phones. You can hose off the mud after exiting the forest. The tour guide provided helmets and PFDs which were required but fortunately not needed. They then bring you to a small restaurant for lunch. Good variety of food (burgers, tacos, mofongo, etc.) - the food was good, prices reasonable, and service excellent. They then drop you off for 2 - 2.5 hours at a boardwalk area with 60(ish) small souvenir shops, bars, and eateries. About 15 we're open at the time we were dropped off. There is an open Beach that can be used while waiting. Had we known, we might have reserved a jet ski adventure (storefront #48). We didn't notice this until too late. Someone else then picked us up to go to the bio luminescent kayak experience. We arrived around 5, getting connected and signing waivers was disorganized, but we think the guide was very new. The kayak tour ended up being extremely organized. The adventure was amazing - kayaking at night was a thrill and they had multiple guides on the water to support new kayakers. You walk to the kayak through the water, you will get wet getting to and returning from the kayak. The water is only about 2.5 - 3' deep. Ibuprofen the next day was helpful (over 50, remember). There is a lot of wasted time in the middle of this adventure, we recommend doing the hike and the kayak as separate tours.
