What To Expect

This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Tour was very well organized. The small group experience was perfect. Spectacular scenery despite not so perfect weather. James our tour guide was excellent and very accommodating. We even had a opportunity to try snowshoes when we were in paradise. We would recommend this tour to anyone that had a free day in Seattle.

Great toup and even greater guide!
Yao_L, Sep 2023
I went to this trip by myself. Our trip driver and guide is James, who is very nice, professional, and responsible person that knows his work and the story about Seattle and Mt. Rainier very well. He remembered all people's name and took great pictures for us. He definitely made my trip much more easy and satified. He is very caring and has good music taste. Would recommend to my friends about this trip and James.
Great tour with a top notch guide

Lucas was an incredible guide. We enjoyed his stories and the fact that he made an effort to make the tour the best it could be (as opposed to following a script). The scenery speaks for itself. I’d highly recommend this tour and, if you are lucky, you will have Lucas as your guide.
Beautiful Day Trip
Rita_P, Sep 2023
The different waterfalls are all awesome. Due to the rain, there's some challenge going through the trails but Cory, the tour guide, gave us enough time. Cory provided good information and also helped with taking pictures.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
The weather can make the tour challenging but it's great to know Cory was able to maneuver through it and still provide a great time. Thank you for touring with us.
Majestic

This was very good trip. We have many great stops. Our tour guy was great. He informed us to buy lunch before we entered the park and had cooler and water for us.

Thank you for providing us with a review.
Lovely adventure!
Shaylee_W, Sep 2023
Joe was a GREAT guide! So funny and had lots of interesting facts about the Seattle and Mt Rainier area. He made plenty of stops for us to take pics on our way to the mountain. We had about two hours to ourselves to explore, but it was raining hard on the mountain so we hung out in the lodge which was fine bc there was lots to do there as well. The only downside was how long the drive there and back was (probably about 5 hours driving total) but that’s no fault of the tour obviously :) Beautiful!
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thank you for touring with us. Yes you are right it is a long day including driving time. We are happy to hear even with the wet day you were able to still have a good time with Joe.

Graciela_B, Sep 2023
There was really good! Joe, our guide, did an amazing job! I was expecting to be more hikes but at the end there was only one and it was enough! Me and my teen daughter really enjoyed the tour!
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thank you for touring with Joe. Even though you had expected longer we are glad the hiking time provided (normally 60-90 minutes) was enough for your family. We appreciate your review.
Amazing park. Amazingly bad tour narration.
Emily_S, Sep 2023
It's difficult to choose a rating for this experience. The beauty of the park surpassed everything, even on a cloudy drizzling day with limited views of the peak. However, I was incredibly disappointed and bothered by the narrated tour. Our tour guide, Lucas, was friendly and is an excellent driver. He spoke to us through a headset the entire time we were on the bus, except for some much-needed quiet time on the way back. As we were taking a narrated tour to and through a national park, I expected that we would learn about the history of the area and some geological facts. Unfortunately, 80% of what we heard consisted of personal facts about Lucas, including his family, his entire job history, his views of public education and government contractors, and his plans for how he wants to spend his free time before the season ends. To be subjected to this as a captive audience was unprofessional, disappointing and uncomfortable.
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thank you for your feedback regarding what was narrated on your particular tour. Normally facts and history is provided by each of our tour guides. I am sorry to hear this day was different. We will discuss with our guide. We appreciate your details and taking the time to tour with us.

Our tour guide was very cool and made the experience fun and entertaining. It was a foggy day so we did not get to see the mountain but being at the park was amazing regardless. I got to see such beautiful views and wildlife.

Jessica_G, Sep 2023
Had a fantastic tour with Lucas. I am usually a solo traveler, but I didn't have very much time on this trip to do my own research, so this was my first group tour. Lucas was knowledgeable, accommodating, and really made sure everyone in our group had a great time. We had children and elderly people on the trip, and at all stops, I feel like there was enough for all of us to do with any experience level. I feel like we saw more than I could have even asked for, and it was worth every penny and more. You won't regret booking!
Response from Host, Sep 2023
Thank you for seeing the value and recommending our Mt Rainier tour! We are glad you saw Lucas be able to offer all ages and abilities levels things to do to make their experience great.

Our tour guide Lucas was amazing. He was very informative about all the sounding areas. He gave us choices on every trail, as to easy to more difficult ways around the sights. He stop at beautiful water Falls. He gave us a nice snack. He told funny stories. My daughter and I had a great day. I will recommend him again. My daughter made it 6800 ft.
