What To Expect

After getting picked up at your hotel in Siena in the morning, ride in a minivan outside of the city or make your own way to the hot air balloon spot. 

Once there, get an overview of the ballooning and learn about some safety procedures. If you desire so, help with the inflation of the balloon. Once it's full with hot hair, hop in the basket to begin this exciting 1-hour flight. 

Drink in the incredible views as the balloon rises heavenward. Let the guide point out landmarks such as towns, villages and villas. Ascend to a maximum height of 2,000 feet (609 meters), allowing you to see for miles and miles over the lush Tuscan landscape. Gawk at the vineyards, olive groves and fruit orchards. 

After hitting terra firma again, celebrate the flight with a glass of sparkling wine. Then hop back in the minivan for your ride back to Siena or arrange for your own way back.

Balloon Team Tuscany

You will receive the meeting point in the afternoon before your flight, or you can request a pick-up service, we will take you to the hotel, make sure you reserve it, this is not included. After being greeted by your captain and crews, you will receive a safety briefing before taking off. If you wish, you can help with aeration of the balloon before getting into the basket for your flight. The flight will last circ an hour, you will then be able to savor the excitement while you get up and stand gently up and over the Tuscan countryside. You will sail at a height varying from 500 feet to 3000 feet, depending on the wind of that day. All this will allow you to admire the breathtaking landscape of Tuscany. You'll see gentle hills dotted with pretty Italian villages, cypress trees, dominant castles and abundant vineyards, olive groves and orchards. You will see all that nature will want to show you. It will be a real adventure. Upon landing, we will toast this experience with a glass of sparkling wine! You will then be taken back to the launch site, or if you have reserved the pick-up service, you will enjoy a comfortable transfer to the hotel. You can reserve the transfer service even the day before if you have not yet decided.

It was one of the best experiences we had in Tuscany and a great way to see the beautiful landscape of San Casciano in Val di Pesa (near Florence). The people from Balloon Team Italia were great and very friendly. When we landed in the field (of a farmer) they had brought an amazing breakfast. I would recommend this experience to anyone!!

OMG. Words cannot explain. Our pilot "Ollie" was amazing. The views unbelieveable and the champagne toast and pastries to complete the ride made for a fabulous morning. Not to be missed.

Disappointed our trip was canceled two days in a row. So I really cannot rate the experience. I do understand that it can be canceled due to weather conditions.

If your flight was canceled due to bad weather, how we can do it is not up to us. You can't leave a review for the weather, and then you haven't tried the experience. it is inappropriate

We were VERY VERY disappointed in the company. While we were in Italy (specifically on a Tram going from the Florence train station to the Florence airport), my husband's wallet was pickpocketed so we lost his credit cards and his license from US. Our plans were to pick up our car at Florence Airport and then drive to Volterra where we were staying. Our plans were to drive to Siena the following morning for our hot air balloon ride. Since, we were not able to rent a car (since we were robbed) we could only rely on the bus service from Volterra to Siena. Unfortunately, none ran that early (I did make a mistake at first and thought time to be there was 8:00 am and it was 7:00am) but, besides that - we had NO way to get there that morning. Again... we were robbed that day. I explained the whole situation to the Hot Air Balloon Company and while they did offer to let us come the next day - they did NOT offer at least ANY portion of a refund. I understand that we needed to cancel 24 hours before like the ticket said but... this was a special circumstance. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and the balloon ride was to be the highlight of our trip (since that was the theme of our wedding). It was sad enough, having to miss it but, to not be able to get at least a small portion of our HUGE cost... that just made it even worst. We were very disappointed and would love if Viator could return some of our money.. I assume you want to be a company who understands situations that happen. If Viator could do something about this, that would be great. If not, that is very sad and a big disappointment. I really don't want to tell people about this situation as the other booking we made were good but, I want to be sure that my friends and family know about this so it doesn't happen to them. I also have quite a large private social media group that I was hoping to not have to tell but, again.. I want to let them know that there was no understanding or sympathy given by the company which translates into no customer service. Again, very very very disappointing... I hope someone can make this better.

Had a great experience. A little pricey but worth it. Booked online, received immediate response. Launch site was easy to find. Our pilot was friendly and experienced. Even the breakfast afterward was enjoyable while they packed up the balloon. Would definitely go again.
Viator as a company has alot to learn about responsiblity

We contracted via Viator for a 10AM balloon ride. Received notice at 6:05AM we were a no-show. No where did Viator tell us of a possible time change. In fact, the vendor never offered a 10AM ride, fault Viator. We did receive the expected departure location email from the Balloon-team 20-hrs prior to the balloon departure. Buried within one paragraph was a reference to 6AM. We did not contract for 10AM nor were we told to look for a time-change not to mention we were only indirectly noticed after Viators 24-cancellation. Nonetheless, Viator extended no refund . When you make a mistake 10AM vs 6AM, take responsibility and do right by your customers.

Best to use the transport provided by the company. Our first trip cancelled due to winds and we had to figure out new transport (the company was very helpful). The ride was amazing! A highlight for sure! Not for people who fear heights or can't tolerate some jostle at landing.

Our balloon ride was AWESOME. We got to watch the process of inflating the balloon before the ride. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The pilot answered all the questions that were asked. The other passengers were great and we all had a great time. The time after the ride chatting with the staff and others made the ride a completly AWESOME ride. Would take this balloon ride again in a minute!!!

Our hot air balloon ride over Tuscany was superb. This treat was in honor of my husband's 56th birthday, and it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Our balloon commander was Guido, and his English translator was Oliver. They gave us what looked to be an effortlessly smooth flight over one of the most spectacular places on earth. Afterwards, there was a surprise grapefruit mimosa and light Italian breakfast provided--it was an extra kiss of wonder to end a spectacular morning! We spent an hour on this ride slightly over, and we flew up 3,000 feet in the air--simply stunning! Our landing was smooth, and though I thought I'd experience anxiety at being so high up, there was none. My husband, 12 year-old daughter, and I were in Heaven. Amazing experience! Had a great time with a very experienced team Italian Hot Air Balloon champions, the flight was exceptional - alternating between high and low level flying. Also flew within range of 2 other balloons which made for even better photos. Would definitely recommend.

TRULY AWESOME!!! First off, i booked this for part of my wifes birthday surprise and a surprise it most certainly was! Pascal and his family who run the course made every bit of effort to make the trip relaxing enjoyable and really great fun! WE travelled up to approx 1600 ft but its such a smooth ride you dont even realise it! sailing through the valleys and seeing tuscany from a different perspective was incredible. The landing finished with a champagne breakfast and this was will all local foods and beverages. We loved it!

Le personnel était très sympa et la collation en fin de vol etait très bonne … c’est tout ce qu’il a de positif. pour le reste nous n’avons pas vraiment apprécié , le ballon n’est jamais vraiment monté en altitude et est redescendu plus vite qu’il n’est monté , je n’ai pas été emballé par l’expérience. De plus j’ai été très contrarié par la manière dont on nous a imposé le lieu de décollage , nous séjournions à 1h au sud de sienne et nous avions opté pour un décollage de Sienne , ils nous ont annulé (faute de météo) notre vol en nous proposant le lendemain , nous avions déjà réservé une activité pour la journée , et bien que cela faisait chargé nous avons accepté, mais quand ils nous ont envoyé le lien avec l’heure et le lieu de départ à Florence , nous avons refusé , il fallait qu’on se lève à 3h30 du matin , qu’on se fasse deux heures de route dans un sens puis une heure dans l’autre pour enchaîner sur une autre activité , c’était pas le deal de départ et nous leur avons demandé d’annuler mais ils ont refusé et nous ont dit que nos billets était flexible et qu’on avait pas le choix … le site lui précise bien qu’on a le choix . Je n’ai pas du tout apprécié leur attitude et cela n’a pas été une bonne journée pour nous . Je n’ai pas l’habitude de mettre des mauvais commentaires, c’est le deuxième dans ma vie et dans la semaine !
