What To Expect

Meet up with your local guide in central Siena. See the Basilica of San Domenico, the gorgeous Gothic church made of red brick, before setting off with your guide walking the narrow cobblestoned lanes, learning about the various 'contrade,' or neighborhoods, all of which have a distinct personality and character.

Then head over to Piazza del Campo, the seashell-shaped space that has been the public living room of locals for centuries. Admire the Fonte Gaia, Fountain of the World, built in 1419; look up at the tall campanile, attached to the 14th-century Palazzo Pubblico. 

After some time, move on from the square and head to the Siena Duomo, one of the most awe-inspiring cathedrals in Europe. Take in the black-and-white-striped facade and then breeze right inside thanks to your skip-the-line ticket. The Duomo was definitely the highlight. Elio, our guide was so engaging, knowledgeable and energetic, he made the tour so enjoyable and was so engaging, definitely worth it!

Enjoyed learning about the history of Siena and help to understand the church and Duomo. The san Paulo race information was good but perhaps we needed a little less and a little more history? This is a personal choice and I will say the guide was otherwise very good.

Georgia was an excellent guide. I learned more about Siena in a few hours on her tour than I did in the entire week I spent in Siena previous to the tour. It was great to hear about the history of the buildings and the religious artifacts in them. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone planning to visit Sienna.

We got to the Duomo only to find out our skip the line guided tour couldn’t happen as there was a special mass. Listening in on the guide speak through the headphone with the Duomo staff it seems that there was previous (2day) warning of this closure for mass. We booked our tickets less than 24 hours in advance. We didn’t get to see the Duomo with our guide. This is really the only reason we took the tour. The guide was great throughout the tour-but her boss wasn’t answering her calls. When I tried to call it indicated the line was out of service. Without contacting us they gave us a $15 Canadian credit for 2 of us missing out on a guided skip the line tour. It cost us more to do a wait in line, go on our own tour. Very disappointing and unprofessional. I would never book through this tour operator again.

Dear Patricia. Contrary to the claim made by Duomo staff, we did not recieve any notice of the closure, so were unable to close the tour date or notify participants of the change (which we would have of course). Unfortunately there was nothing we could do on the day except refund the duomo ticket costs and offer an alternative visit. We find your rating more than a little unfair due to the fact that you found the guide to be terrific and it was an unforseen circumstance out of our control.
