What To Expect

Board your air-conditioned coach outside your central Sorrento hotel (or at another nearby spot, if your hotel is inaccessible to coaches) and meet your guide to begin your day trip along the Amalfi Coast. Settle into your seat and gaze out the windows at the sparkling sea or terraced gardens and pastel-colored buildings, depending on which way you look.

Your first stop is Positano, a tiered village built onto the side of the cliffs. Spend a few minutes capturing the famous views with your camera - or simply your memory - before hopping back on the coach for the next leg of the journey - the town of Amalfi.

Explore Amalfi at your own pace, visiting the iconic multi-colored 9th-century cathedral or browsing the rows of shops along the town’s side-streets. You can even arrange to take a boat tour to the nearby little villages of Conca dei Marini, Maiori and Minor (own expense).

After visiting Amalfi, board the bus once again to climb up to hilltop Ravello, your final stop. This little town is famous for two villas that both have large gardens and breathtaking views of the sea - Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone - and you’ll have free time in Ravello to see them for yourself.

Soak in more of the Amalfi Coast’s famous views on the coach ride back to Sorrento, where your tour finishes back where it began.

I definitely recommend you come to this tour well rested as you will do a lot walking and driving.

It was a good route, though the guide didn't give much of information - could be better.

Bait and switch

We had booked a small group tour that would allow us to explore Positano and Ravelo. We expected to be picked up at our hotel in Sorrento, instead we had to spend money on a taxi to get to our pick up point. We then we ended up on a bus full of people that was only doing a drive by of Positano and destine for Salerno. Needless to say we were disappointed, but the operator allowed us to get of bus at Positano. We had to spend an additional $120 to get back to Sorrento. We feel that a bait and switched our plans and we will be requesting a refund.

Great tour, unexpected parts

The guide was friendly and informative, and so was the bus driver! We learnt a lot about the amalfi coast and had lots of fun. However, the tour did not go as how we saw it on the description. We were probably added to another tour, and did not have a lot of time in Amalfi, and also did not go to Ravello, instead we took a ferry from Amalfi to Salerno. We were not informed earlier, so this was a bit disappointing. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the tour.

It was a beautiful tour. A must do. Tour guide Nino was the best. We had a mixed group of Italian couples and us from USA. Nino was fluent in English and made the tour a lot of fun. Wonderful tour!!! We highly recommend this tour.

The tour was great! There were only 16 of us so the minibus wasn’t crowded. The guide, Rosella, was very accommodating. We were able to go to Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. And we were given free time in all three places. I highly recommend this tour.

Amazing tour guide and beautiful views! I definitely recommend you come to this tour well rested as you will do a lot walking and driving. My only feedback is that I wish I would’ve known we were going to be right by the beach at our Amalfi stop. This was the longest stop and I would’ve loved to jump in the water for at least 30 minutes (totally doable!)

Tour company gives too-limited time frame for pre-request for hotel pick up. Ended up with short straw SEATS CHOICES after a LATE pickup at a Meeting Point. IF YOU AIN'T ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BUS YOU MISS MOST OF THE THRILLS. All the nicer features (boat ride & lunch) are EXTRA €€ However,TOUR GUIDE DIEGO tries to be Amusing & Entertaining. And is quite informative. Gives short shrift to POSITANO (disappointingly)

Great Trip

The trip overall was excellent! Diego was a great guide and Jerry was an amazing bus driver! We all felt very comfortable during the drive on the bus despite the traffic and terrain of the roads. Diego was also very funny, friendly, and extremely informative. He made sure we all had things to do, setup extra excursions for those who wanted it, and even set us up a lunch outing so we didn't have to spend our limited time on our stops getting food. He really helped make the trip smooth. Overall the views were stunning and it didn't feel like we ever had too much time in any one place. Diego really made the trip great and the tour was setup very well!

Just a (late) taxi service

This tour was unfortunately really disappointing. We booked it as a way to see three cities that our guidebook recommended (Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello), experience the Amalfi coast drive, and hear the history/stories of what we were seeing. What we got was the bus pickup was 30 minutes late, the tour skipped Positano entirely, the bus was huge so it could only stop twice on the drive vistas, meaning we couldn’t take pictures except through the bus window with glare/reflections, and above all - the tour guide talked the whole time without ever saying anything! Amazing! We heard the same joke 12 times (“the bus driver is drunk” or some variant thereof) and we got no history at all. She even talked about how much she would tell us later... but somehow never got to it. Also the 1-2 hours in each city felt rushed. Pros: individual seats (compared to e.g. SITA).

Coming to the Amalfi coast we were expecting a rich historical perspective, instead, we got a sassy italian young man, flirting with older women, clearly intent on working for tips. Lunch not included had us hijacked in a restaurant of the tour guides choice with no other options. A big disappointment. Guide had limited historical knowlege.

A good trip, not more

The trip consisted in a stop in a panoramic view over Positano, 3 hr in Amalfi and 1 hr in Ravello. I liked the kindness of the guide and her attitude to tourists. During the trip we made 2 other stops: 25 minutes in a souvenir shop and about 40 minutes in a Limoncello factory. I was very disappointed to loose time in that way. The guide suggested to have a boat tour around tha coast near Amalfi. In my opinion that tour was terrible: the boat brings you in the middle of the sea and, after having seen the coast for some minuter, the tour finished.. 12 € thrown in the trash. To conclude, despite what I've written, the trip is a good way to have an idea of the coast if you don't have much time and it's good value of money.

Ravello is stunning but needed more time there. Restaurant for lunch was good value, great views but very poor food. Driver was amazing on the roads and St Andrew's Cathedrale in Amalfi was spectacular. The price of the tour is reasonable so worth it for this. What let it down was the guide who talked endlessly but said nothing. Very little info on Amalfi coast history or the area. For instance when St Andrew performs a miracle in Amalfi which leads to the Pope installing his remains in Amalfi Cathedrale after the crusades this is the sort of thing you would expect a guide to tell you, instead we had to do lots of reading after the tour to find out anything. Very very disappointed in this aspect.

I have done this trip twice now and enjoyed it both times. Amalfi and Ravello are beautiful and the boat trip is good also. The guide is informative and fun and it is beautiful drive to Amalfi.

One of the best parts of my trip. You just can’t spend all your time to spending days in each place, and this perfectly compacts them. The guide was great and the bus driver was a pro. Wow views. Also the lunch was 15 Euro and three courses, all the homemade wine you can drink and delicious. My only problem is that I heard people booked it much cheaper through their hotel.

Our guide was lovely and this tour included beautiful views and the boat ride was fantastic. Don’t bother to book this tour if you dont do the optional boat ride. By the time we got to Positano and through lunch in Amalfi it had already been a very long, hot day. Ravello felt unnecessary at that point, as did the lemoncello “factory” which actually felt like an obvious and intentional tourist trap with aggressive sales people throughout. I would take this trip again but I would prefer to skip the 2nd half.

Pros: -The tour guide was very charming and knowledgable about the area. She kept us all engaged throughout the tour and the driver of the bus was also very good. -The tour length was good and we got some time on our own in each stop to allow for independent exploring. We left around 8:15 am and returned back to sorrento at around 6 pm. -Our guide pointed out all the things to do but didn't pressure anyone to partake in the optional activities such as the 45 min boat tour of Almafi that cost an extra 14 euros. Cons: -Stopped off at a restaurant for lunch that was overcrowded with other tour groups. We were made to order from a set menu and hastily served. It was obvious the tour group had made a deal with the restaurant ahead of time. This took an hour longer than scheduled, which meant we only had about an hour in Ravello. I would recommend leaving this part out and allowing guests to make their own eating arrangements in Almafi or Ravello.

Of course, Avi Travel focus that our guides should pointed out all the possible optional activities, additional trips like the 45 minutes mini boat tour and so on as we are persuased that being local we can give our Clients the correct info and options to enjoy a valid tour and not only a touristik tour! In our Tour we do not include the lunch in Amalfi or Ravello exactly for the reason of allowing guests to make their own eating arrangements considering the different needs. Anyway, I can assure you that, Amalfi/Ravello as very small pearl in the Amalfi Coast, have a limited number of Restaurnants and of course at lunchtime they are overcrowded with tourists. Furthermore, considering that the Clients involved in a daily tour usually do not reserve a table, the restaurants will be able only to serve a set menu to handle the not known on advance number of Guests! The guide's suggestion on a restaurant is made on the guide's evaluation on the higher availablity of the restaurants of that day and not on deal ahead of time. We will be more than happy to keep your suggestion informed our guides to be more clear on all possible options for lunch so assisting our Clients in find the best option for them! In Fact, the guides are in constant contact with the Suppliers/Restaurants to figure out their daily conditions!
