Titanic, Mayflower & QE2 historical site

5/4/2023 -The guide, Brian, was very knowledgeable and made the tour interesting and fun. This location was notable for more than just the Titanic. It also has alot of history about the Mayflower, and the QE2 sailings. He showed us buildings and plaques about the history of each of those sailings. The walk was thorough, yet not strenuous. We definitely recommend this tour.

Missed the meet-up location

Not blaming the tour operator, but the instructions had the taxi driver drop us off completely at the wrong part of town. I tried to get directions from the guide, but we couldn’t get to the group in time. Please give better meet up directions. The Titanic tragedy has long been so important to me. Very upset. The text I received from the guide giving details of another meet-up location were written so tiny that in the mad rush and rain, I never saw that he even responded.

Thanks for the review and comments. It is most unfortunate that you missed the Tour. All guests receive a booking confirmation with clear information about the start point. This guest was a no show. Tour Operator out of courtesy rang this group and was informed they had gone to the wrong area of the town. Directions were given over the phone how best to find the start point. The Tour started late to give the group the best opportunity to arrive at the starting point. Out of fairness to all others, who were on time, and had no issue finding the start point, the Tour had to commence. Out of further courtesy another phone call was attempted to contact the lost group. There was no response. A voicemail was left instructing the group to check their email for detailed instructions about how to find the late meeting point. This is an email which is clearly written, with detailed address, and for added benefit a photo of the late meeting point. All due consideration and fairness was offered to this group. This was an extremely interesting walking tour. Bryan, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the Titanic and its many connections to Southampton. We not only learned about the sinking of the Titanic and its impact on this city but also about the sailing of the Mayflower and Speedwell. Historically informative. A good, comprehensive, insightful, 2 hr. walk around Southampton old town. The focus of course was the Titanic, its crew and passengers. A lot of information was also provided about the role that Southampton played in the deployment of allied troops during WWII, "D Day" and until VE.

Walk the Secrets of the Titanic Walking Tour surpassed our expectations! The tour encompasses the many nautical and historical events that have occurred in Southampton through the ages. We were particularly excited to see and hear about the people of this area particularly the launching area of the Mayflower ship to the new world, and Plymouth colony. These Separatists who radically left England for the freedom of their religion must have been brave and hearty men and women. Bryan was an amazing guide! His knowledge of this entire area and its people made this tour very pleasurable! He included so many details about the Titanic’s design and her building, in addition to her staffing and the varied classes of guests aboard the maiden and final voyage. During the tour we viewed every memorial on the streets and buildings of the over 500 working staff that lost their lives that night. This tour will be a wonderful two hours spent if you love history and want to know the back story of Southampton’s historic nautical past.
