What To Expect
Meet your private guide for this day trip outside your central Strasbourg hotel and climb aboard the awaiting air-conditioned minivan. Settle in for the scenic trip into southern Germany. The trip to Freiburg takes about an hour, during which your guide can answer questions and set the stage for what you’ll see and do that day.
Freiburg is an historic university town inside one of Germany’s main wine-growing regions and not far from the Black Forest. After you arrive, you’ll follow your guide on a walking tour around the town. Pass stately townhomes as you walk through cobblestoned streets and squares, hearing about Freiburg’s history and architecture dating back to the 11th century.
Admire the Freiburg Minster — the town’s majestic sandstone cathedral — that overlooks Münsterplatz square. Take in the impressive sight, with the decorative doorway and many spires and carved gargoyles looking down. Wander the narrow streets around the cathedral to see things like the arcades of the Kaufhaus and the little brooks running near the Minster.
Spend some time seeing Freiburg at your leisure after your walking tour, during which you can do some shopping or get some lunch (own expense) before getting back into the minivan for the next part of your tour.
Drive through the beautiful Black Forest, passing through dense forested areas to see storybook hamlets tucked deep inside. Learn from your guide how this area served as the inspiration for many of the fairy tales penned by the Brothers Grimm. There are plenty of photo-worthy sights along the scenic drive, so keep your camera handy.
After a drive through the Black Forest, head back to Strasbourg. Your tour ends when you’re dropped off again at your hotel.

A MUST-DO tour for families!!!

This was an incredible tour for our family of four. My husband and I plus our two children (ages 8 and 11 years-old) had a perfect day with our guide, Theirry! He was so knowledgeable and shared such interesting facts with us as we made our way through Freiburg, a beautiful drive through the Black Forest and then a stop in Titisee! We wanted an authentic cuckoo clock and he took us to this amazing shop where we were able to not only find the perfect one but the store also did international shipping so we didn’t have to worry about getting it back home.
Theirry answered our questions and was so generous with his time and knowledge. It was easy to be together and he made us and our girls feel like family.
We hope to return and do more tours (and hopefully with him)!

Robin is the ultimate tour guy. He is very knowledgeable of the area and the history in the area. He took us to the best place to eat, and the best place to get dessert and the best place to get souvenirs as well as to see all the sites in the black forest. We highly recommend him.

Pauline was amazing. She took us through Freiburg, a stroll around Titisee, and then a beautiful drive through the Black Forest. We wanted a great apple strudel and she recommended a great place in Titisee. She also gave us a lot of great recommendations to stop at for our next journey to the French Alps.

Florence was a great guide. Freiburg is a very charming college town with tons of history and character. We had a lovely outdoor lunch in the market square with Florence & , because we were interested in the local wines, she took us to her favorite wine shop. The drive through the Black Forest & stop at the lake was so scenic & beautiful. The lake town is lovely & we indulged in Black Forest cake at the local bakery. Florence was a wealth of knowledge & we thoroughly enjoyed this trip.
