What To Expect

Make your way to the meeting point in the city Tours, France; the Tourist Office located at 78 rue Bernard Palissy. Meet your guide and small group of 8 people or fewer, then climb into an air-conditioned tour vehicle and depart for the Loire Valley.

Arrive at Chenonceau, where your group with get skip-the-line access and embark on a tour of the chateau's stunning architecture. Stroll through the Renaissance-style gardens surrounding the castle and learn about its history and relationship to famous women such as Catherine de Medici.

Descend into a cellar cave, dating from 1874, to have a guided tasting of mature Vouvray wines before continuing to a local restaurant for a traditional French meal.

Enjoy priority, skip-the-line access to the Royal Castle of Amboise, an example of the transition of Gothic to Renaissance architecture. Learn the history of the castle on your guided tour, and stop by to see the grave of Leonardo da Vinci in the chapel.

The day's final tour is at the Chateau of the Clos Lucé, where da Vinci spent the final years of his life. See models of some of his genius machines in the invention room. Depart the last chateau and head back to Tours for evening drop-off.

The guide Simon was incredible nice, professional, courteous, funny and very knowledgeable. Marianne was also very helpful and arranged for us to intercept the tour in a different town as we mistakenly believed City Tours was an office not a city 2 hours from Paris. Once we joined the group it was a beautiful trip. Wished we had more time at Clos Luce.

Excellent tour and tour guide. Her knowledge of the castle's history and the inhabitants was astounding! She knew so many facts and great stories of the castle's history it made them come alive. She was flexible and accommodating. We would take any tour with her leading. Its the best money spent. Without a tour you don't get the deep history and story behind everything you see. Becomes much more meaningful.....

Amazing day with Marion! Despite having only been a tour guide for a short period of time, I thought guided like she had years of experience! She was so kind and offered to take pictures of us - which was amazing cause I was traveling solo. This tour is an absolute must for any Leonardo Da Vinci fans as you get to walk in the last footsteps of the great master. Each castle more special than the last and the end visiting Leonardo’s last home. Only disappointment was not being able to see Leonardo’s grave at Amboise castle. Normally this tour goes there but it is under construction right now and for the next couple years. So make sure you check that if you want to see that.

Our first chateau tour begun at Chateau de Chenonceau. It was great. Very well kept garden, beautiful views! Manon, our guide, gave us a great lecture on history and social life of France. We appreciated very much. Second stop was at Amboise! What a great experience. We visited the grave of Leonardo da Vinci! Again very interesting history lecture and cultural experience. We then visited La Close Luce, where Leonardo da Vinci spent his last 3 years. It was an experience that we will not forget. The park was also great. We had a short stop for wine tasting and lunch in between the visits. Thank you for the great time.

My sister and I went on this tour in early March, during the slow season. We opted for a small group tour because we felt we'd be lost in a larger group. Our tour guide Cyril was very knowledgeable about the histories, art and architecture of these three chateaux, and he also had a great sense of humor, which made the entire day entertaining. Of the three chateaux we visited, Chenonceau was definitely our favorite. We also enjoyed our wine tasting, which was paired with 3 different cheeses from the region!

An excellent day with our guide Cyril who was amusing and very knowledgeable. A very tight schedule meant that it seemed a bit rushed at times and being August, it meant that it was very crowded in some of the very confined spaces. The wine tasting was also excellent and informative and I now know that I should not just neck the wine but savour it!! The group also became firm friends by the end of the day.
