What To Expect

After night falls on this atmospheric city, meet up with your guide near the famous Rialto Bridge. From there, journey through a labyrinth of narrow streets and deserted squares as your guide recounts tales of Venice’s haunted history. From the sacred to the profane, learn about the noble-blooded ghosts that wander the city’s grand palaces and the medieval child-killer Biasio, who was said to chop up little limbs and add them to his stews.

Stop by the beautiful Bovolo staircase—an architecturally impressive structure that conceals strange secrets in its spiraling stone archways. Learn about ancient cemeteries buried beneath the cobblestone streets and ponder the legends of fearsome sea creatures lurking in Venetian canals.

Step down to a secret passageway where forbidden lovers once met by torchlight (water levels permitting). Finally, let your imagination run wild in the shadowy Calle dei Assassini, once a popular haunt for hardened criminals and murderers and the site of many dark deeds.

Your guide leads you back to the Rialto Bridge area. From there, you are free to continue roaming the shadowy city on your own—if you dare!

It was a walking tour so many sure you bring good shoes.

they should definitely use a wireless sound system, like they do at museum tours, not because the tourguide is so quiet, but because of the noise around the area that drowns out the tourguide.

This was a great way to get to know the city and really cool to do it after dark. The your had some great ghost stories/legends, and our guide also shared lots of interesting general information about the city. Gave me ideas for other things I want to check out while here!

Disappointing

Our tour felt very uninspired. Christina was nice but didn’t have many stories and the places we walked during the tour were often not very interesting back alleys. Most of the stories were not connected to the places we walked. I saw much more interesting stories in a book at our apartment and could probably have led a better tour for our group. Hopefully the company will dig a little deeper into Venetian lore and develop a better tour.

What I can think of is that probably Cristina that day was not in perfect shape, as all our guides doing this tour follow the same route and are well versed on this tour, that we operate quite a few times a week. need earpiece radios- hard to hear in the crowds

The guide seemed nice but we couldn’t hear for the first half of the tour. There were 22 people and it was a packed night in the squares of Venice, and a guide without the typical ear radios of every other tour. DEFINITELY need radios so the guide can walk and talk. Too much walking without any explanations from guide, which would have been solved by the earpieces.

This was an incredible trip in the right amount of time, in the cooler evening with a fair amount of walking. Sergio was an incredible guide who knew the stories behind the city. The information gained and opportunities to hear spooky tales were a great addition to walking around the city earlier in the day and the next day.

We had a really enjoyable private tour with our fantastic and very knowledgeable guide, Christina. It was great seeing the narrow Venice alleyways in the evening with very few other people around, and leaning about some of the history of Venice. We didn't encounter any ghosts but two or three of the stops were decidedly spooky and not places that we would have wanted to be on our own having heard Christina's stories!

We've been operating this tour for many years and although sometimes expectations are for ghost tours similar to what they are in northern countries, this tour generally meets the appreciation of our clientele as it is a mixuture of Ghost and Legends stories while walking in the back streets of Venice in late afternoon, when crowds have left and athmosphere is more magical. This was less about ghost and more about deaths in Venice. Our guide told stories and I’m thinking there wasn’t much truth in them. We did see some interesting sites and were given some good recommendations. Additionally, the cost of the tour wasn’t very expensive. Our guide’s English was okay.

Great tour, the tour guide was lovely and made it a very enjoyable experience. Visited parts of the city that you wouldn't normally find on your own. Liked the fact that it was not a large group so you were easily able to hear the guide speak and enjoy the experience.

Great tour for a first night in Venus. You may want to check under your bed though.

Fantastic tour with Great knowledgeable guide,Christina. Learnt a lot about the history of Venice. Didn't find any ghosts but a rather noisy sea Gull did cause a bit of a panic. Be prepared for an hour and a half walk through dark narrow alleyways but all fun.

A really interesting tour! Taken off the beaten track and told historical ghost legends of Venice. The tour wasn’t “scary” however I’d like to note that there was a boy around 8 years old who felt a little uncomfortable and scared. Obviously a case of knowing your children before bringing along. Our guide Cristina was excellent! She was very friendly and told the stories in an engaging way. Would thoroughly recommend!

Wonderful opportunity to hear fun history. Great smile, organized, friendly and included many different people in the group. The earphones worked well except down long hallways. More than 20 ft /corners, they cut off in tall building areas. But you wouldn’t miss much. If it’s fast walking, no worries. They do stop close. Yes, I was one of the slow walkers😉 It was fabulous how she answered questions a young kid asked (not many, don’t worry) even about the water wells. (Didn’t hear that from anyone b4). Fabulous opportunity, highly recommended!

Finally called a few minutes after scheduled time to find out tour company had no record of our booking, they stated Viator never sent it to them. Not the first time we’ve had problems with Viator. I would advise not using them.

This tour was so much fun! It was a mix of legend and history, not too much Ghost. But that didn't matter. We had a great time. Our guide was wonderful. We were able to see so many areas of Venice we never would have seen without this tour.

We have taken over ten tours through Viator this vacation. This is the only one you could not hear the tour operator. Raining and he did not slow the pace. Missed half of what was being said. Could have used ear pieces or a microphone. Had both on various tours.
