    What To Expect

Begin your full-day exploration of the UNESCO-listed Versailles with a walk through the expansive Versailles Gardens, one of the most visited places in the country.

The huge space, covering 1,977 acres (800 hectares), blooms with roughly 210,000 flowers planted each year. Learn more about the history of the gardens and how they were used from your expert guide.

Take advantage of skip-the-line access to avoid waiting at the entrance to the Versailles Palace, where you'll go on the next stop on your guided tour. Learn how this extravagant place was both a private home for the royal family and the center of political power from 1682 until 1789. Walk through the king's and queen's apartments, the fabulous Hall of Mirrors and the Royal Chapel.

Visitors who are at Versailles on a Sunday get an added bonus of seeing a fountain show in the morning in the gardens. The ornate fountain show is coordinated to a classical music soundtrack, which makes a morning walk through the gardens even more delightful.

Take a break for lunch (own expense), then follow your guide to the Grand Trianon. Louis XIV had this lodge built in 1670 to offer respite from the formal palace. Next, visit Marie Antoinette's Estate, where you'll see the Petit Trianon – the queen's private retreat – along with the French Pavilion and Queen's Hamlet.

Gabriella was our "Get your Guide" tour guide. She was very knowledgeble and friendly. Made the tour a memorable time.

Gabriella was very knowledgeable and sweet. We were told to be there at 9:25 and that we would then leave shortly after. We didn’t leave till after 10 and by the time we got our tickets and we were in it was around 10:15. We visited only a hand full of rooms inside the palace because we stopped for some time in each room and before we knew, it was time to break for lunch at 11:30. I had been to the palace before and knew there is so much more to see but had not had a guide last time and thought it would be nice to understand the history. We had about 1:30 for lunch and bathroom break and that was just enough time to wait in the line to go to bathroom and then find the restaurant and wait in line to get food. We were told that we can use that time to visit other rooms by our selves and get lunch also but lines for food were just too long. And then we were to meet outside to see the gardens. Granted there is lots to see outside but we were very disappointed that we only got little time inside the palace and almost 3 1/2 hrs outside in the gardens. I wish they had suggested we bring sandwiches with to avoid waiting in the long line for food. For the price we paid for the tickets, we felt like we did not at all get to see the main palace.
Steer clear of Viator for tour bookings - when they issue a ticket that doesn't mean you have a ticket

We had a very poor experience with Viator on our recent Paris Versailles experience. We originally purchased two tickets to see the palace and was called by the tour operator a day prior to the event that it was oversold and not available. We purchased a second tour for Versailles for $160 and was guaranteed that the tickets would be immediately available and I can confirm that we received them. We re-arranged our vacation schedule to accommodate the limited availability of Versailles. The night before (10 pm) our morning trip which was to be the following morning we received a phone call from the tour operator indicating they were having a system issue and could not accommodate our trips. We had no other days left in the schedule to visit Versailles and the only trip left was a $299 package which we ended up purchasing. Viator was unwilling to work with us on any future credits given the situation we found ourselves in that was caused by their tour operators. This doesn't even take into consideration the 4 hours we spent on the phone with Viator and the tour operators individually that we had to spend to work through the situation. We recommend staying clear of using Viator as it is very clear that even when they issue tickets that doesn't mean you have a ticket.
    Corpulent folk prepare yourselves

Eat a big breakfast before you go b/c the wait for food is VERY long. Wear comfortable shoes b/c you’ll be doing A LOT of walking.
    Great Tour!

This was a wonderful tour! Ann Sophie tells such great stories! She took us all around the chateau, to the Petit Trianon, and all through the gardens. It’s quite a lot of walking, but WELL worth it.
    Amazing day tour!!!

An amazing journey into the past!! Laura was an exceptional guide. She is kind, courteous, and exceptionally well informed! Versailles is an architectural masterpiece! We enjoyed the tour immensely!

Laticia was an incredible guide! She was so informational and spoke great English. Very personable as well. Please if you are looking to book this trip IT IS A 7 HOUR WALKING TOUR. We loved that aspect but were held back by some idiots who didn’t read what kind of tour they signed up for…. We missed some fountain shows because of them. No fault of the tour (she did her best to let us go ahead while staying back - bravo to laticia) Highly recommended ****
Bucket List stuff - This incredible tour of Versailles should be high on your list!
    Jason_V, Apr 2023
The Palace of Versailles has been on my bucket list for many years and after previous trips Paris did not afford the opportunity I finally had the chance to spend a full day exploring Versailles😎 The sheer scale and opulence is breath-taking and you can easily appreciate why it attracts over 15 million visitors a year! The full day tour is a must if you can, the extra visits to the Trianon and Hamlet are highly recommended and worth the extra time out in Versailles! Our guide Laura was excellent, demonstrating an incredible depth of historical knowledge and a passion for Versailles.
Leaticia was an excellent tour guide
    Gerry_S, Apr 2023
Leaticia - Excellent knowledge of Versailles and the grounds. Excellent directions on where to go and when to be where.
    Too quick of a tour
    Iuliia_M, Apr 2023
Honestly, Guide Isabelle was great. I am glad they waited for us since the trains were a mess on Sunday. But to be honest, for this price, the tour seemed a little bit rushed. We went very quickly through the main building of Versailles and did not have time to enjoy the Helmet much, just quickly breezed through. Also only got to see 1 fountain and maybe 2 grottos in the gardens. If you would like to check out all of the above, I would recommend just getting entrance tickets and dividing your visit into 2 days. That way you get to fully experience the beauty of this place.
    Amazing Tour

Anne Sophie is a really great guide! Knowledgeable and fun, she made this trip an enjoyable one. Not to mention Versailles is such a beautiful place!
    exceeded expectations!
    Kristen_b, Apr 2023
Laura is amazing. She is so knowledgeable and seems to know the answer to every question!! She is also the most enthusiastic tour guide and keeps the group very engaged. We were there with a 15 year old and 13 year old and not a peep of whining! I highly recommend this tour because when I thought of touring Versailles I was picturing just the chateau. This tour includes the chateau in the morning, then you break for lunch, and meet up again to tour Marie Antoinette’s Trianon and well as the hamlet and then a greatest hits tour of the grounds and fountains. All fascinating!! Laura gives a very different perspective of some of the high level details we all know about Versailles and the people who lived there. We learned so much!
    Grand and gorgeous
    Michael_W, Apr 2023
The fountain show in the gardens were some of the highlights. Also the history was fascinating as well as the scope off versailles

My guide Laura was simply amazing! Tons of information, passionate and just superb all around! Wow!!!
No matter the season Versailles is so worth seeing.
    Susan_R, Apr 2023
We were a group of four, and speaking for myself, they were a very nice group to be with. Laura, our guide, couldn’t have been nicer or more knowledgeable about everything we saw. We were with her from 9:30 to about 5 and the time just flew by. She was so happy to share everything about Versailles with us.
    Great Tour

Doing an all day tour of Versailles is the only way to go! We had been on a half day tour a few years ago and that tour left us feeling that where was so much we didn't see. Our guide Ann Sophie was super, her timing in the gardens with the fountains was perfect. We had enough time to grab lunch and do some more exploring in the palace on our own despite the crowds.
    Fantastic guided experience
    Steven_W, Nov 2022
Anne-Sophie was fantastic! Versailles is a truly beautiful place to visit, and Anne-Sophie was the perfect guide to bring the tour to life for us. Her knowledge of French history and the passion she has when she shares that knowledge is delightful. Her timing for the tour was excellent, we hit each of the timed events in the garden with near perfect timing each and every time. Although Versailles would have been great regardless, the colour Anne-Sophie added to the experience is what we will remember for years to come.
Lots of walking but worth it.
    Joseph_J, Oct 2022
Gabriella was very knowledgeable about the palace and grounds. She was very pleasant and passionate about her work. My wife and would highly recommend this tour. It is a lot of walking.
