Amazing experience! We were a group of 5 and we had a child with us. This is a must do experience on the island of Vieques. The tour guide was helpful and provided loads of information regarding the Biobay. Can’t recommend this tour enough.

They have a local reputation for being unreliable
Tatianna_V, Sep 2023
Said to be ready for pickup at 6:30pm. Waited until 7:30, never arrived. The server at tradewinds said this is pretty typical of them. Our Airbnb host said on their list of mosquitoe bay kayak tours, this company is not on it. Their reputation is pretty well known among locals as being a tour to avoid. Unreachable, uncommunicative, unprofessional.

For some reason this tour stays on the corner of the bay, it doesnt go to the middle like others. We were not in the water for more than 30mins and most of it was next to the mangroves listening to information. The whole point is to experience the water so please, give the explanation more to the middle and let us spend more time enjoying the water.

This is a must! Truly a unique experience. Try to go during a new moon! Some of us had never kayaked before and had zero issues
Terrible tour company

This is the cheapest biobay tour because it’s the worst biobay tour. We were picked up from an old van. The driver did not greet us, introduce himself, or say where he was from. He just said “get in” and drove. It felt like a horror movie driving through the dark with this stranger who did not speak. He said nothing the 10 minute drive there. We arrived and again were met with confusion as no one was talking and there were people and busses everywhere. We were all given short child size life jackets, which fit none of the adults. We were told to put our shoes in a bin and led down a rocky, painful path to the water. Again, given no instruction we were rushed into muddy water to enter wet, filthy kayaks and pushed forward into the darkness. Unlike other professional groups, we had no lights whatsoever, no ropes to keep us together, and zero guidance. We had people who had never been on a kayak blatantly say so, yet no assistance or direction was offered. The guide silently rushed ahead of us the whole time. Once we got to the middle of the water, he spoke a short memorized speech in English. People asked questions, to which he had no answer because he did not understand English. The “10 minutes of free time” was only 5 minutes then he rushed us to go back to shore. My two groups got stuck in the trees along the side of the water and were ignored as we asked for help. Once freed, we were rushed into the shady van again and dropped off at our meeting spot. Biobay was not bright and we did not see much - we do not blame the tour company for this. But we do blame them for a terrible, rushed experience. The promised 1 hr 30 min tour was less than one hour total, including transportation time. What a disaster.
Had a great time!

Good experience! Tour guide was knowledgeable and stopped to make sure the group was together frequently.
Family Biobay time

Loved being on the Biobay and learning the science behind it. Kids had fun too. Wished they could have been transparent kayaks.
Worth it

The bay was amazing, you could see the bioluminescent organisms very well. I would definitely recommend people to do this tour. The only down side is the tour guide told us not to take our phones and that she would take photos & videos for us. Long story short I have not got them so make sure to capture your own moments
Booked this for my family...
Lincoln_F, Jul 2023
Booked this for my family for a 7 o'clock excursion so we had to meet at 630. At 625 I reached out to them and was told we weren't going to meet till 830. This was already a problem because I have a young daughter and that messed up her sleep schedule but oh well. Show up at 830 and ride a bus to the bay. The guide looks at my daughter and asked my wife if she was staying behind and she said no. They called their boss and they told us that she wasn't allowed to go even tho the description says infants must sit on lap of a parent. My wife was then made to stand outside without being offered a place to sit or wait in the bus or anything. Terrible experience
Don’t miss this experience

Our guide was fabulous, knoeledegeable an very clear about expectations and safety. He added a whole conversation about Vieques history on the way back from the tour. Thank you.
Beautiful. Very dark.

Our guide really knew his stuff. They were friendly and made us feel safe. Dion had a great sense of humor
Once in a lifetime experience!
Michael_D, Jul 2023
Amazing experience kayaking under the stars with bright bioluminescent water around us. Watching the fish swimming around us lighting up in the water as it moved and running our hands through it was incredible and a once in a lifetime experience. Tour was well organised and staff were friendly. Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us a good understanding of the natural phenomenon but didn’t take too long and let us have plenty of time to enjoy being there in the bay. Would definitely recommend!
Unforgettable but not thanks the the tour guide!

Tour advertised as 1.5hrs and the tour guide was in a hurry since he met us @ malecon. Rush thru the intro even though there was a couple which was their 1st experience with kayaks. He simply said opposite asides, you want to go the the left row from the right and viceversa. They were scared from the moment they got in the water. My family and I are experienced with kayaks and we've done the tour with other tour companies, what a difference! As we start to paddle the couple was left behind, we tell the tour guide he replies its okay they will catch up. We paddle for about 15mnts, tops 20mnts, get to middle of mosquito bay gathered, with difficulty due to the inexperienced couple, he explains his memorized speech about the bay, why its called mosquito bay, why the bay is bioluminescent.....He then says 10nts for everyone to go experience the bay, do what ever they wanted. Not 5mnts in he says okay let go lets start heading back. He rushes , leave everyone behind, my brother and I had to rush help the couple who were screaming help we are going the wrong way. The tour guide had already gotten out of his kayak so we rushed to help the couple since they were heading straight to the mangroves and were freaking out. We shouted we were heading towards them and try to explain how to stop by simple puting the paddle in the water and rowing backwards. We got to them in the nick of time and helped them while the tour guide was on shore observing. Very unprofessional, not capable of giving good customer service and making sure the clients gets its $ worth. The experience of the bay is unforgettable, that couple for sure will never forget this experience. This is why I gave them 2stars rating. If you can schedule ahead of time, that was our mistake, and book with the other tour companies that are a bit more $ but are better organized and make the experience less hectic.
Do not miss this!!!

It was amazing to see the lighting up of the plankton. The guide did a wonderful job of demonstrating it and explaining it.
Bio bay experience

This was my kids first time at the bio bay experience they loved it so very much. It was mine and my husbands second time with this company and even though the 1st time was a better experience I cared for this time for my kids to enjoy it more than me. I feel that the tour guide could have been a little bit more lively and more involved.
Loving the nature

It was a great experience. Tour guide was great and the explain about the organism in the water was great too
Peaceful & beautiful
Jenna_N, Jul 2023
An amazing experience! The tour was well organized. Being out on the bay at night was amazing and so peaceful. You’ll paddle through the bay and learn info along the way. When you return to shore, there is a portable sprayer to clean off your water shoes. FYI: use the restroom before you leave as there is no opportunity to go once you get into the van! Also, bring a plastic/reusable bag for your water shoes & a dry pair to wear once out of the kayak.
Short bio bay
Carolina_O, Jun 2023
While we were able to see some of the bioluminescence at the bay, the tour was supposed to be 1-1.5 hours. Ours was only 38 mins and the tour guide talked through 15 of those. It was short and we weren’t able to enjoy it fully. Not sure if all tours are the same way but I was disappointed with how short this one was.
