Overview
The black lava sands of South Iceland are wonderful to look at, but this quad biking tour offers a deeper sensory connection with the landscape. Beginning close to the Mýrdalsjökull glacier, head down to the black lava sands fields, which derive from the dormant volcano Katla, then continue along the coast to the famed aircraft wreck, onto the Jökulsá river and up to the foot of the mountain.

Please be at our location 30 minutes before the start of the tour. Our main base is Ytri-Sólheimar 1 in Mýrdalur about 25km west of Vík and about 11km east of Skógar. From Reykjavík there is about 160km and the driving time is about 2hours. From the main road is 1.2km drive by road 222 to our base.

Fun and Exciting Excursion

We had a group of 5, ranging in age 53-22, and we all loved it. It was one of our favorite excursions. Our guide, Anthony, was amazing. He was helpful, fun and patient. I highly recommend this trip, it was 100% worth it.

This tour was AMAZING. We had the best time imaginable. My wife and I each drove an ATV and our kids rode behind us. They are 12 and 14 so they couldn’t drive but they also loved the ride.

We had such a great time! The landscape was varied from beautiful lush green canyons, small water crossings to black sand beaches. Even though we had no ATV experience, we felt safe. Very professionally run.

This tour was so worth it! It has been the highlight of our trip so far! Lots of sights to see, the terrain changed often which was surprising and so great! The guides were kind, patient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend!
Tour was great, need to do better and clean

The tour itself was amazing. However don’t ever use the shoes they give you. The shoes haven’t been cleaned properly and smell disgusting after you take them off. My feet have never smelled before in my life but after this tour I had to throw away my socks and personal shoes which cost $300. They need to do a better job of cleaning the shoes. My wife also threw away her socks and shoes. They stench was so disgusting I tried to wash the shoes to save them but there’s nothing that could be done to remove the smell. The smell actually filled up our entire hotel room and finally I threw them in the trash.

Views were breath taking guide was lovely. Got to see all we was promised the gear was clean. Lots of time to take pictures. Only thing is was a long drive to just do once with with plan others things next time that way.

First time driving a quad bike for me. A little scary, but it was fun. 11 year old son rode with dad. Everyone stayed in one line. We kept a good speed. Went through lots of different terrains. Wish we could have stopped for more pics, especially over the water sections. Good fun.
