Overview

After a tenuous drive into the darkness we arrived at the site and campfire. Cowboy John told great stories of the hundreds of movies and movie stars in Kanab. The night sky was amazing and John told us all about that too. For the s’mores be sure to try Jamie’s homemade marshmallows!!

So much fun! Cowboy John was very friendly and had a lot of great stories. We saw the cows (they are such babies!). Also I know other people mentioned there wasn’t much stargazing but we had quite a bit. He had a really powerful pointer and was able to point out constellations so I thought that part was actually really informative so they must have taken the feedback.

Cowboy John told amazing stories! The s’more bar was on point, and even had some homemade marshmallows which were the best! Her kids enjoyed it so much we stayed a little bit late too!

We really enjoyed our Campfire S’Mores and Stars evening in Kanab. Cowboy John knows a lot about the local history of the area and it was interesting to hear about the many movies and shows filmed here. The full moon on our night made the stargazing not as spectacular as we had hoped, and the longhorns decided not to come to the barn that evening, but we still enjoyed the overall experience.

Too overcast to see the stars but we still had a great time. Ghost stories and local history by the fire. The longhorns were a real treat!

Beautiful landscape, Ken’s family has been in Kanab for six generations. He’s a wealth of local knowledge. Meeting the longhorns and angus cattle was amazing!!! We had a great time!!
No stars-Still 5 Star Experience

This S’mores and Stars tour was excellent. Even though the night we were in town with stormy and cloudy and we barely saw any stars, cowboy John made this time memorable for my family regardless.
He let my 12-year-old daughter choose the vehicle that we drove to the ranch in. She chose the hummer and it was an open air ride with tiered seats so everyone had a little bit of a view. It was our first ride in a real military style hummer so the kids thought that was pretty cool. He also showed her how to check put his six cheater was loaded versus unloaded.
Yeah on the way to the ranch where they do the campfire and s’more‘s, we stopped at the Longhorn cattle area. We got out and everyone got to pet some longhorn cattle and see the six and 8 foot expanse of the biggest ones. The horns are amazing and we learned that they are actually warm to the touch because they have blood flow within the horns! This was educational, opportunity to see something we wouldn’t see back home in Tennessee! cowboy John also let my daughter ride on the back of the turn list little guy. He was also very safety conscious and cautious about where we were standing in order to keep us safe in case the cows swing their heads to push away the flies.
We saw some deer grazing and he took the time to pull a side and let us snap a few photos, and also took the time to take us to a Wellet gas station to get a photo of our whole family with the Hummer. He was very patient and truly cared that we had a great experience.
This was another five star experience for my family. Even though we really went for the stargazing time there was a new moon and we’re disappointed about the stars, they made the experience fun and memorable for us.

I never took the time to review this last year, but as it’s a year later and still being talked about my family I figured it was worth coming on. The night started off overcast and we thought it was not going to be worth it. The guide gave us the option to cancel but we went forward. The ranch, in itself, was a great enough experience, and we could have ended there. However we took the time to sit late enough so that the sky cleared up and we experienced the night sky that we hoped for. I will definitely this again…
