What To Expect

Greet your expert guide at a central Zurich location and climb aboard an air-conditioned coach for a panoramic tour of Zurich, a city considered Switzerland’s cultural capital. Admire the rich architectural array and hear tales of Zurich’s prosperous past before travelling to Rapperswil, a charming medieval town known as the ‘City of Roses’.

On arrival, marvel at the towering turrets of the medieval castle and then enjoy some leisurely free time to explore independently. Return to your vehicle and capture panoramic photographs of the Alps as you cross the Ricken Pass and arrive in Toggenberg, a gorgeous region replete with swooping valleys and beautiful mountain scenery.

Next, cross the border to Vaduz, capital of the minute Principality of Liechtenstein, and spend more leisurely free time discovering the charm of the city. Visit the Post Office to catch a glimpse of its highly prized stamps and then return to the coach for the short journey to Maienfield, the stunning setting of the Heidi stories.

Take a pleasant stroll to a collection of mountain houses and absorb incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Opt to visit the Heidi House at your own expense and then gaze at the picturesque banks of Lake Walen as you travel back to Zurich by coach.

Please note: In wintertime, visit the quaint village of Werdenberg instead of Heidi-Village.

Traveler Tips

This is a definite must if you are traveling to Zurich.
Although the company mentioned it is accessible, I think anyone on wheelchair would have found it difficult to navigate, so I wouldn't recommend to anyone on wheels.
Hardly necessary to stop outside Fraumunster when there was no time to do anything.

Great views
Alejandro_R, Mar 2023
Beautiful landscapes. Rapperswil is not great in winter because of the lack of flowers but still nice. Heidiland and the road very beautiful
Heidi Tour
Erik_H, Mar 2023
Amazing amazing experience!! Heidi area is super nice and the views along the way and at the mountain are spectacular. We took tons of pictures…. We didn’t have much time at Liechtenstein but there’s not much to see there.. we really appreciated more time at the mountain. Our guide was a great guy, very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this tour!
Almost Excellent
Lance_G, Mar 2023
Driver and Walter, the tour guide, both were extremely good. Safe and interesting trip. However, the trip started at 11 AM and by the time we got to Lichtenstein everything was closed except for the shop to get our passports stamped and a couple of eateries. Very disappointing. This tour needs to start at 9 or 9:30 ?:at the latest.
Great views.
Jenny_D, Mar 2023
The bus ride was relaxing to just sit and watch the mountains. The guide "John" was very patient and informative.
Great time!
Steven_T, Mar 2023
It was a great tour!! Mark and Walter were wonderful (great driver and tour guide!!) I would recommend this trip to anyone!
Not a bad way to see the country side.
Stephen_J, Feb 2023
The tour was a good way to see the countryside. Many interesting areas visited and a great guide. Felt a little rushed, however it was a large group tour so is understandable.

Not bad but I wouldn’t recommend this tour in the winter. Rapperswil was beautiful and definitely worth visiting. However, Heidiland was closed because it was winter, so we just visited a statue instead. The story was interesting to learn about though. We also had an hour of free time in Liechtenstein, but there was literally nothing to do other than get our passports stamped. It was pretty disappointing, but perhaps it would be better in summer too. I can’t fault the tour guide though. He was extremely nice, courteous and knowledge.
Ok, not bad

Try to cover historical places rather than commercial shopping centre’s. Most of the places covered commercial placeless only.
Excellent trip
Mayank_A, Feb 2023
Great fun exploring Heidiland and Liechtenstein !! All 3 of us enjoyed this trip. The guide was super friendly.
Enjoyable day
David_F, Feb 2023
Was lovely scenery and interesting locations. Informative host. I have nothing add. But you insist on me typing more so here u are.
Good say to spend a day if you have a few days in Zurich.
David_S, Feb 2023
Seeing the countryside and Liechtenstein in one 8 hour day was incredible! The scenery is gorgeous and the guide was very informative.
Boring tour guide but nice scenery
Tara_C, Feb 2023
The tour guide was a bit boring and was a bit rude to one of the other passengers. The bus driver was nice and funny when he talked..:think the tour would have been more fun if he was the guide. Overall the tour was okay, some nice scenery but some fun/funny stories would have helped. The tour guide read out of her book a lot to describe things and made it less interesting.
Response from Host, Feb 2023
Thank you for taking the time to write us your experience on our Heidiland Tour. It is much appreciated to hear how our tour guides are received by clients to give us/them the chance to improve the service. We have forwarded your comment to the guide and she make sure to add some entertaining bits and pieces besides the facts and figures of history and sights in the future. Thank you.
2 countries in a day
Rowena_Q, Jan 2023
It's a very well spent day. A lot information to take in but our guide Walter is very passionate and friendly. He answers all our questions. Highly recommended trip if you are in Zurich and wants to visit another country.
Need time to have lunch....
Daniel_G, Jan 2023
Need time to have lunch. You can't have a tour that long without time for lunch. Heidilan was closed. We should not have stopped if it was closed. Not much to do except to take a picture.
Response from Host, Jan 2023
Dear customer we regret that our Heidiland and Liechtenstein Tour from Zurich did not meet your expectation. We wish to explain that Heidiland – is the name of the region (The diverse vacation region between Lake Walen and Sarganser Land in Eastern Switzerland gets its name from Johanna Spyri’s world famous Heidi story). It is correct that the Heidi-Village with the Heidi-House which hosts a museum is closed during winter season. Some tour guides make a photo stop at the Heidi-Fountain which is not be confused with the Heidi-Village. The first stop we have is in Rapperswil and that is around lunch time. In Rapperswil is a wide range of restaurants, coffee shops there is even a McDonald. In Rapperswil the tour guide is providing a guided stroll through the Old Town and then allows time for lunch. Our guests have different eating habits, some take only a snack others had a late breakfast and some prefer a proper meal. Once in Rapperswil, the tour guide will give instructions as to when the tour will continue, giving each guest the opportunity to arrange the limited time of their stay as they wish.
Long day for very little
Paul_R, Dec 2022
Tour of Zurich was minimal. Trip to Liechtenstein was pretty much just transportation there and back … Very little information was shared by the guide and no stories were provided to make things interesting. We were disappointed to have invested a full day and a fairly high price for a day in a bus.
Best guide and bus driver
Lena_H, Dec 2022
We had the best knowledgeable and humorous guide Peter and excellent bus driver for our trip. Everything went perfectly well.
Beautiful views
Sudeep_Y, Dec 2022
Amazing tour. The bus was very good. Very good driver. We went during December. Mr Hans our guide was very good, informative and helpful. 10/10
Liechtenstein, interesting experience
Frederick_V, Dec 2022
Enlightening, informative and the scenery was spectacular however, it was disappointing that there was little snow otherwise a very nice day trip.
Horribly planned tour
Carla_A, Dec 2022
What a pointless tour. In every stop (even Liechtenstein, which one would think is the main attraction) you only get like half an hour. So you spend a lot of time in a tour bus and that’s it.
Don’t think twice, just book it!
Kathleen_G, Dec 2022
A great tour! Definitely recommend! The bus driver did amazing job and our tour guide did wonderful with information about everywhere we went,he was funny too. My mom and I really enjoyed it!
